Summary
Signal after signal rings through and she's about to give up when he finally accepts the call.
There's a weird shuffling noise in her ear.
“Huckleberry, where the hell are you?” she says
For a few seconds there's only silence and her stomach twists unpleasantly. She presses her hand to her other ear to try to cancel out the noise around her.
“Trinity…I don't feel good…help…”
Her grip around the phone tightens and she looks at Dana and Robby and her heart picks up speed.
His voice is hoarse and weak and he seems out of it.
“Where are you? What's going on?” she asks.
“Really…tired…something's…wrong…”
He coughs into the phone for several long seconds.
“Trin’ty?...pl’se help…”
The words are slurry and he struggles to get the words out, his breaths rapid in her ear.
“Where are you? Talk to me! Huckleberry? Tell me where you are.” she says frantically.
There's nothing but silence in her ear.

Summary
is he being mugged right now?
He hears the guy yelling something at him, but in his panicked state, he can’t understand the words he’s saying.
He must not react fast enough for the other man, because his head is slammed back against the brick, and Dennis definitely can’t understand him now— not over the ringing in his ears.
He feels his backpack being pulled away from him, and he thrashes, kicking at the other man— connecting violently with his knee.
”YOU BITCH!”
Well, he understands that, at least.

Summary
If Dennis had to start dying in front of anyone, Trinity Santos would be one of his top choices because he knew she would do practically anything to keep him alive. Sure, a lot of those things were probably crazy and would earn her a lecture from Robby or Abbot or whoever was the attending when they inevitably arrived at the Pitt, but at least Dennis would live to tell the tale.
Dennis pictured his airway closing and Trinity performing a crike on him on the floor of their apartment with the sharp little paring knife she used for slicing fruit. It’s exactly the kind of insane thing she’d manage to pull off.
Since it was after seven, Abbot would probably be in charge of the ER and when they arrived he’d probably say something like, “Doctor Santos, you know that interns aren’t supposed to perform unassisted crikes. But that was super cool.” Or he’d probably never say super cool but Dennis was too out of it to conjure a good Abbott impression and that seemed close enough to the lecture Trinity’d received after the REBOA incident.

Summary
Dennis was ten years old, and all he had ever known was Broken Bow, Nebraska until he had been shipped all the way to rural Pennsylvania to repent.
Because Dennis had done something bad. Something really bad. And now he must earn forgiveness. But what wouldn't he do to see his Ma again? Just one time. To show her how hard he was trying.
So he had jumped. Hoping that she would come if he was injured. Nothing too bad, just enough for her to come. But it had been too high. And now he was flying in a helicopter to the nearest hospital, scared for his life, and so very scared to end up in Hell.
Unbeknownst to him, he was about to meet Dr. Robby. A tall man with hands that could heal. And perhaps, with his husband Jack, they could show him another path to life, one much kinder, one that showed Dennis what unconditional love was.
The fingers on Dennis’ head were now gently brushing his misbehaving hair, and the hand on his own hand had been joined by another one, encasing it on both sides.
His God was full of shit, Dennis decided. Because hands that loved like this couldn't belong to the damned. No, they were the hands of angels.Bookmarked by ashesraindown

Summary
It’s the last day of his ER rotation and Dennis wants to think he's come a long way since his first chaotic and disastrous day. He likes to think that he has found his place in the busy emergency room department. He can’t even remember the last time he had to change his scrubs mid shift and he is determined to make it through this last shift too.
_
“HELP!” he screams again as he steps into the main corridor. Whitaker’s face looks even more lifeless and gaunt in the brighter lights of the ER and the sweat is visible on his skin.
The reaction is instant and soon their colleagues swarm them.
He thinks it is Mel that is first followed by Jesse and McKay. Mel stops in her tracks as she spots her friend’s unconscious body in Frank’s arms.
“Oh my God,” Mckay says. “What happened?”
“I don’t know, I found him like this,” Frank says as he walks to the trauma bay. “He¨s got two wounds. One in his arm, one in his abdomen. He’s in shock.”
Whitaker is attacked and they are all left dealing with it.

Summary
There’s no time to think about trip hazards until way after the patient has been wheeled away.
The good thing is that nobody saw him take a spectacular swan dive, and they’ll all probably assume that the blood is just from the major trauma.
He stumbles out of the room, grabbing new scrubs and darting to the men’s bathroom before anyone can ask him a question, or look too closely at his face. The bad thing is that he only just gets the cubicle door locked before the dizziness takes over, and he slides slowly to the floor. Dying on a men’s toilet floor is not the worst thing to happen to him, but it’s pretty low down on the list.

Summary
Jack Abbot stops breathing at exactly 8:52pm.
“Oh my God,” he hears someone exclaim, but he couldn’t tell you who.
As he takes in the figure on the gurney being wheeled into the ER, the IV in his arm, the blood in his hair, and the air being forced into his lungs every three seconds, Jack’s whole chest seizes up.
“It’s Doctor Robby,” One of the paramedics exclaims, like Jack can’t recognise him. Like they hadn’t kissed each other goodbye on the roof less than two hours ago.

Summary
“What the hell happened?”
“What happened, Michael,” Jack answers, hard, as if Robby can’t see the broken-open expression on his face, “is you got yourself hit by about five thousand pounds of steel and dropped out on me—”
“Shit,” Robby curses. “Jack— I’m sorry. You okay?”
Jack laughs without much humor in it. “Are you— Are you kidding me? Seriously? Your heart stopped on my table, you’re asking if I’m fucking okay?”
“Yeah, I am,” Robby says, because if it’d been Jack without a pulse on his table, he knows he would not be anywhere near okay.
