"Sorry, did you just say that you're my roommate? You?" Aventurine squints, looking the man up and down. Now that his eyes have recovered enough- is that- is that purple hair natural? Or is this guy cosplaying as some anime dude? It's not entirely implausible, with the combination of the eyeliner. The guy, apparently Ratio, nods.
"Your name is Ratio," Aventurine utters in disbelief. "Ratio. Are you serious? What are you, a mathematics major?"
"Ratio" clears his throat. Dead silence hangs in the air for a solid ten seconds.
"What the fuck," says Aventurine.
Or, Aventurine wakes up with little memory of who he is. Luckily, he has a hot roommate to help him out.

He'd already known that there was a possibility the professor shared his feelings. He recognized that the way Ratio treated him was vastly different from the way he treated others, but the longer time went on, the more Aventurine was able to convince himself that he didn't have a chance. He didn't want to have a chance. Because-
Because everyone he had ever loved had died, without exception. He does not have the means to protect them. His luck never extends to protect anyone he loves, only himself. It steals from anyone who is willing to care about him, care for him, love him more than themselves. So it was far easier to ignore the loneliness at the idea of losing his feelings of love if he thought he didn't have a shot to begin with. He only took gambles that put his own life at risk.
It's always the ones that tell him to live that end up being the most hypocritical, after all.
Where Aventurine develops Hanahaki, gets the surgery, and falls in love, over and over and over.

Alhaitham's voice, despite its oddly low and soft nature in the morning, stabbed into his brain, prying his focus away from the stupid mug and up to Alhaitham's face. Alhaitham's brows were once again raised in question, but Kaveh could see the slightest quirk at the corners of his lips.
After a long, blank moment, Kaveh blinked and shook his head, mumbling "No," and turning away with his—Alhaitham's—mug in his hand.
Neither of them said another word, instead just puttering about their morning in silence as if everything else was completely usual.

He took one of Ratio’s hands again, sliding the glove on with surprising care. The fit was perfect, the fabric snug but comfortable. Ratio stared at their joined hands, his chest tightening with an unfamiliar warmth.
For a moment, neither of them spoke. Aventurine’s fingers lingered slightly, his touch light but deliberate. When Ratio finally looked up, their eyes met. Aventurine’s gaze held steady, warm and unguarded in a way that made Ratio’s throat tighten. “Thank you,” he managed, his voice quieter than usual.
“Take care of yourself, Ratio,” Aventurine said softly, his voice barely above a whisper.or in which Aventurine and Ratio go to Belebog as IPC representatives, share a room and find out about their feelings for each other.

A typical pirate with the eye for treasures, booties and richesーjust like how the books described them.
Until when he started sailing with them, all information from their scholarly books and other academic sources started to make zero sense.
