This is my "let's imagine that Gabriel lives" post-season 13 series.
When I look at the earliest works, I squirm. That's because I didn't think this would turn into a series and I didn't put nearly as much effort into the first installments as I should have. Thus, there is pretty shoddy continuity. Forgive me: when I began writing this material, I thought, It's just fanfiction; no one cares about continuity. By this point I have quite changed my mind.

Gabriel had loved before, in many ways, but Sam Winchester was the first one to truly understand Gabriel.
Gabriel felt loved.
He felt like everything he had ever loved and cared for was right where he needed it.
This was where he belonged. This bunker was his home, his lifeline.
Or, Sam helping Gabriel through his trauma after Asmodeus.

When Sam is five, Gabriel is his hero. Nothing can change that, no matter how many times he finds the older boy in tears. But it's not until he's twenty-two and at his lowest that he realizes exactly what that means for both of them.
Written for a prompt- "human au- however many times you want Sam found Gabriel crying and one time Gabriel found Sam" which I took the liberties of expanding to include one last time Sam found Gabriel.
