Summary

After two hundred years they’re suddenly freed from their underground prison, but the world they knew is gone, replaced by a shambling shadow of itself. They'll have to learn how to fight if they want to live. But there's more to living than surviving, at least, that's what Wilbur keeps telling them.

“But you’d die,” Tallulah pointed out, sounding about as nonchalant about death as you’d expect.
“Yup,” he agreed. “I had a good run.”
He did lie down then, folding his hands over his stomach and closing his eyes. For now, and in front of the children, he could pretend that his death would be a nice one.
Or: Tubbo tries to die. Two persistent children do their best to keep him alive.

It was then the Pythia looked down at the hand outstretched between them. The prosthetic was made of intricately carved metal, covered in vines and flowers twisting together with the shimmer of enchantments reflecting in the purple glow.
And although the guard’s sleeve was covering his wrist, he knew that in the place where metal met flesh, there was a pair of dark angel wings tattooed on his skin.
He was right. This wasn’t a real guard.
This was a Deathling.
or, Wilbur is an oracle known as the Pythia, chosen to receive dreams of the future from the goddess Clara. One day, he receives a dream warning him that during a ball Emperor Schlatt is hosting, the Deathlings—terrorists who worship the goddess of Death—will launch an attack. When his warning goes ignored, he knows there's going to be consequences.
He doesn't expect one of those consequences to include him getting kidnapped by a teenager.

“Congratulations to all the lucky players in this forest-- you have been chosen!” Techno cranes his head back, and past the leaves, he can see Wilbur high, high up, looking so tiny from where he’s looking down at all of them. Tommy is near him, seeming distracted with other things. “Through a complicated and thorough process that definitely wasn’t just taking people at random from their worlds, you’ve all been brought together for the sole purpose of an experiment. A social experiment. An experience, I like to call it!”
Wilbur sounds thrilled at telling all of them this. Technoblade wishes he would fly back down so he can put his knife to good use. He didn’t sign up to be a random lab rat.
(Or, Techno winds up in one of Wil's 100 player challenges. He's just aiming to get out alive. Wil and Tommy of course have other ideas.)

The ground beneath Tommy’s feet gives way as he watches the chains slam onto their wrists.
Something violently breaks inside him. His breath catches in his lungs and he struggles to keep upright.
“What crimes?” Phil snaps as a muzzle is clipped over Wilbur’s mouth and Techno is forced into a reinforced straight-jacket. “Get the fuck off of me!”
A trident is placed under Phil’s chin and Tommy can feel his heart shatter.
Or, Tommy is free of the Red Room, only for his past to come knocking, bringing with it more trouble than he could have ever predicted.

Summary
Sixteen year old Techno knows how the world works. If anyone knows Wilbur has healing powers, they’ll come for him. They’ll take him away and Techno will never see him again.
And unfortunately, no secret can stay safe forever. Though, as they steadily run out of places to run from the Hero Commission, they’re approached by a few Villains instead.
“I want to help,” The Angel of Death tells him, “I swear it.”
Villains usually stick to their promises but Techno knows better than to trust anyone about this. And these Villains don't intend to give the Hero Commission a chance to take them away.
(Or Wilbur has healing powers, Techno will do anything to protect him, Phil sees two scrappy kids being threatened by the Hero Commission and takes matters into his own hands, and Tommy is just here for the ride and maybe to get a few brothers along the way.)

Summary
The ones in charge bark their orders at him day after day, pushing him out into the battlegrounds, demanding that he spills blood. They tell him to fight, tell him to behave, tell him to get in his cage and wait for sunlight so it can all start again.
Techno listens. He simmers with quiet anger and tears his opponents apart, soaks in the shrieking cries from the audience surrounding him. He listens, and waits, and when the higher ups deem the results good enough, he’s allowed to return to the single person in this hell that has ever taught him what it’s like to live.
Techno doesn’t know real freedom, but he has Wilbur.
That, he thinks, is good enough.
(Or, AU in which twinduo are fighters in an arena. The only solace they find is with each other, at least until they're then freed. They struggle to adjust.)

“So, theoretically, if I were to trade my soul with you, is it possible to get money in return?”
A drag of silence passes. The demon’s smile fades into a blank expression that could almost be called confusion.
“...Yes…” The demon trails off. “You could, but couldn’t you go bigger than that?” It phrases the question as an offer, a chance to make the deal at least a bit complicated. Demons don’t like simplicity, it seems.
Shame, because that’s all sleep-deprived Wilbur cares for.
“What could be bigger than Money?” Wilbur asks, raising his eyebrows and clapping his hands together. He then winces with a curse, having forgotten about the fact his palm is still sliced open.

“We can strike a deal.” Dream offers. “You can spare the town.” It’s almost a plea, in the way he says it.
“I could.” The pirate says, Dream staring straight ahead with clenched fists. “I could leave the rest alive. I could go back on my ship, return to my captain, and leave you as you are.”
Wilbur leans closer to the ledge of the window, straining his ears to catch their voices, trying to see every single detail, since he might be the only one left in this building to witness it.
“But.” The Blood God stops in his pacing, a wide grin on his face. “You have something he wants.”
He then lifts his chin up, looking straight at Wilbur.
“Or someone.”
Wilbur freezes, the air in his lungs feeling stuck as he sees red.
(Or, Wilbur was stolen from his family as a baby to be used as a threat so that The Angel of Death, the world's most infamous pirate, could be kept at bay. But Phil's learnt how to gather together loyal crew, and now they've finally come to get back what belongs to him.)

Summary
[Hello, User Tommy!] the System solemnly pings as Tommy lies on the floor, holding his stomach as he slowly, slowly bleeds out. [Congratulations on finishing the story - User Tubbo is eager to see you again!]
Fuck you, he tries to say and the System laughs, watchful eyes taking in the death of the last User. Pale slivers of sunlight blur into darkness as his eyes finally shut close for the final time, alone and itching to see Tubbo.
Or: Tommy and Tubbo are bound to a System where they play the role of two villainous characters, Prince Theseus and Tobias. A glitch occurs during the last chapter of the story and they wind up back in the past having to redo everything. Except it's not just them who have memories of the first timeline and the story is rapidly falling apart.

"You're not sick, are you?" He asks, instinctively pressing the back of his hand to the boy's forehead. His skin is cold and clammy, but Phil imagines it has to do with the biting wind outside; he doesn't appear to be injured either, but that just makes the situation more confusing.The boy's eyes flicker between Phil and whatever he is seeing next to him, and his face drops, panic flashing across his face.
"You can't see him."Or, in which Tommy has a ghost problem and a stranger willing to help him.
