“I love you so much, you know that, right?” Remus whispered, closing his eyes, leaning his forehead against Sirius’ temple, his thumb caressing his cheek idly, here, here, here. Sirius felt the tightness in his throat intensify, but he still swallowed it away.
“I love you too, Re, so fucking much,” he managed, letting his eyes fall shut too, his arms coming up to hold Remus tightly against his chest. Stay, stay here, stay with me, he thought, over and over, his own personal mantra. Please stay.

Sirius who wanted to be coddled by his friends whenever he was haunted by nightmares and who crawled into Remus’ bed when the full moon was particularly bad. Sirius who let the girls braid his hair and paint his nails and who had confided in Remus that he kind of liked being “pretty” rather than handsome. Sirius who had skipped an entire day of classes after learning about his lycanthropy and waited by his bedside until Remus opened his eyes – only to tell him that he was an idiot and that Sirius didn’t love him any less because of it…
Out of everyone, Remus had expected Sirius to be accepting and supportive.

it takes a moment, and there are salty tears falling down his face when he finds it in himself to answer.
“my names sirius-“ he thinks he’s gonna have to explain his odd name when remus speaks up suddenly,
“oh like the star?”
his head is turned making him look slightly doglike and it makes sirius feel a bit warmer despite it all.
“yeah” sirius breathes out after a moment, “most people don’t pick that up” he offers out as he rubs the tears out from his face.
“i’m not most people” is remus’ response, and sirius only then remembers what had made him pause on the edge.
or, sirius doesn’t think he can take the grief anymore, but then a kind stranger helps him from the ledge and he realises maybe things could change.
