Summary
“Sorry, that was probably a weird analogy. Just… I don’t think you can linger on every moment like that you’ve ever lived through without going a little crazy, you know?”
“Yeah, actually,” she sighs, and there’s something tired in it that grabs Robert’s attention, enough that he looks up and notices she’s looking away now, staring out towards the Hollywood sign in the distance. He’s never seen Blazer brooding — can’t really imagine what that would even look like — but this comes close.
“What’s that tone mean?”
[An extended take on the second conversation atop the billboard during episode 7, and a closer look at Mandy and Robert.]

Summary
another explosion comes and goes and, as usual, refuses to take robert with it. with the fate of the suit uncertain, he’s forced to confront the truth he’s been avoiding: the suit might never give him the ending he’d spent half his life expecting. which leaves him with the one outcome he’s utterly unprepared for—being alive in a room full of people who actually give a shit.
(aka, everyone was way too chill about robert almost exploding in the lab, including robert.)

In which Robert gets blown up and Malevola intervenes. She’ll never admit it, but she might (as a part-demon) have a soft spot about the metaphysical evidence that their new dispatcher is, in fact, a good person. And she’s not gonna watch him die in a fucking lab explosion. AKA: A few missing scenes and speculation on Malevola’s whole deal.

In which Invisigal is handling this soooo normally. She’s not spiraling at all about Mecha Man joining SDN as her goddamn dispatcher. The way she’s thinking about the guy she nearly exploded to death is normal. So normal. She can be normal helping the guy out with something as simple as a headache. AKA: Vizi battles her demons while Robert has a migraine after hours. It’s so normal.

Summary
The day after Frank’s world comes crashing down, he gets a chance for a do-ever. The first time it was a blessing. The second time it was a curse.
What is it that he’s supposed to be fixing?
This feels exceptionally difficult to actually write down, in ink:
Every morning, I wake up and it’s September 5th again.
It’s been eleven days now. I don’t know why writing it down makes me want to be sick all over again.
I’m not going to do a second-by-second ticktock of exactly what happens. I know what happens. And if I can’t remember, all I have to do is wait twenty-four hours for it to come around again. Jesus H Fucking Christ.

Summary
Occtis was not scared of death. A product of how he was raised. So he wasn’t scared of the dying when he went. Death was not the end, after all. Not for a Tachonis. Though, really, he was barely that. Only in name. Only in blood that granted him no gifts — so it was like he was something completely other, anyway.
Or: Occtis and the little time he has to adjust to being dead.

Summary
He’s about to take a breath to steady himself before he remembers how much he dislikes that feeling now. And it feels so wrong to breathe but he feels so… lost without it. He activates his bellows-lungs, trying to feel the way air rushes in, screwing his face up as he forces the motion. And it rushes, and the air comes and comes. But relief never follows. There is no satisfaction, no calm, no comfort. Occtis doesn’t know how to steady his nerves that no longer light up and flare but still feel fear. The emotion feels real, but there is no physicality associated with it. No pit in his stomach, no shivers, no shaking, no clammy palms. That just feels worse. Stuck with this feeling with no way to express or release it.
Or, five times Occtis explores his undeath with his companions and one time he starts to figure it out on his own.

Summary
He - he said he was going to see her later. Shit, did he specify an hour? It's been more than an hour. She's going to be so mad at him. It's not his fault; he makes a point of keeping appointments, once he's made them. He's always anxious at the thought of breaking a promise. He rarely makes promises, frankly, because when he does, he likes them to actually mean something.
But Thimble can have any promise from him she'd like, given the friends of it all. Occtis doesn't have a lot of those, these days.

As things get worse, Occtis's mind goes wandering.

Summary
Occtis only knew the rest of the night in flashes.
The overwhelming rush of sensation and imagery and information was thick and sharp and something that felt almost painful. It was more, he thought, than he would have been able to comprehend even on a normal day.
This was so obscenely, absurdly far past normal that there were no words to even try and describe it.
Or: The thing that used to be Occtis Tachonis tries to adjust to his new existence. Hal tries to be gentle with a young man who has had a very long night.

“I’m not Renoir,” the stranger croaked.
“No, no. I know. I’ve seen photos in the archives. You’re too young. But he had lieutenants. All the early expeditions did. Kay, Simon, Minot… and his son.”
Outside the cave, a strange bird trilled. Sunlight striped the stone floor.

Summary
Arthur’s heart flutters unevenly, arrhythmic. Vague sparking signals cannot make it past the broken connection of his severed spine. There is warmth in his core, still, but it is fading rapidly in the frigid air. The Dark World compels him to live, yes—but it does nothing more.
And like that, enveloped wholly in his blood and sinew once again, it occurs to him:
Maybe he can do something about this.
If he wants his friend back, he needs to do something about this.
He stretches his awareness outward once again, and begins to knit.
After dying at Kayne's hands, John and Arthur find themselves in the Dark World. Possessed of two separate bodies, though... perhaps not quite as separate, or as whole, as they were hoping.
Nothing's ever easy, is it?

Summary
Artie must’ve been on the rocks again. Mostly, that’s when Kayne started to hear about it: first, a conservative waft of that prim little fougere Arthur had liked before he’d killed too many people to frequent barbershops; then, a muffled cry in his unleashed Oh Dear God Or Anyone voice; then the glimpse that Kayne had been craving. Just a little, just enough to make him want it.
Passacaglia: A composition similar to a chaconne, typically in slow triple time with variations over a ground bass.
