Bucky nodded. What else could he do? Had he entered a parallel universe? Ava Starr had barely said five words to him since they’d moved into the tower. The most she’d ever spoken to him was urging him to enter the void after Yelena. Now, here she was, in his bedroom, looking gorgeous. And available. And snarky. And hot as a thousand hells. Again, he was the damned winter soldier. He didn’t know how to handle such heat.
“Just not blatantly. Or in…a weird, uncomfortable way.”
“Because this is completely normal,” Bucky commented dryly.

The refrigerator? Where the hell was the vodka supposed to go? His dad sometimes drank vodka…why didn’t Shane ever pay attention to where it went? He should know this shit! His man was Russian!

Ilya swung toward Jason Caine, the hulking defenseman Boston had acquired from Pittsburgh in a recent trade. Ilya was still figuring the quiet, stoic man out. “Theories?”
“Yeah. I tell her she reads too much fanfic.” With a fond grin, he slung his bag over his shoulder. “Anyway, see you guys in the morning.”
"Wait," Marleau cut in, turning to Jason. “Now you got me curious as hell. What’s your wife’s theory?”
"Yes Caine. What is this theory?"

“Hollander.” Icy warning wrapped around each syllable.

“Am home sick,” Ilya barked, pushing his way into Shane’s apartment. “Is true?” he gestured toward the magazine Shane had yet to acknowledge. “End it. Now.”
“End what…” Shane looked down, frowning when he realized it was the fucking 'National Enquirer'. What the actual fuck? “Oh…” he breathed, the top box on the front page catching his eye. A picture of him and Mia Voegele taken in a dark club with the tag, ‘Secret Marriage?'

He was going to make his way down the sprawling neighborhood streets where intricate, built-upon mansions peppered the landscape, working his way through Delacroix to the normal homes off the edges of salty marshes and grainy beaches; possibly buy some roses at the local grocery store and then walk up the porch to the Wilson Family home’s front door.

The thing is, she’s right. Sam knows she is. He pulled himself back together, piece by painful piece, after Riley died. He learned to fly solo. He rebuilt his life after the Blip and talked himself around to trusting his own judgement after Steve waltzed off to the past. Now, he’s gotten used to having Bucky at his side, in his life, watching his six in the field and teasing him over dinner, but he could learn to live without it. Fly a little more carefully, trust Torres to have his back, spend more time with Sarah and the boys and the neighbours to fill the silence. He’d be almost whole again, eventually.
But godfuckingdammit, he is sick of being strong.
