Shen Jiu’s body froze instinctively as he readied himself for a blow.
But it never came, because when Shen Jiu managed to look up, all he could see was a man’s broad back swathed in black robes, his grip tight around Qiu Jianluo’s wrist.

They called it the "Hexport"; a portal that seemed to only manifest through certain runes. Things that enter it come out differently than they were before, so, of course, the interest of two brilliant young scientists was roused.
But it was only a matter of time before things went wrong and Jayce experienced an adventure he never asked for.

It takes him a moment and another careful look to be certain, but—yes, it’s got a more subtle variation on the Academy staff bot uniform, white and muted browns, and the College of Sciences insignia pinned to the breast of its waistcoat, and where its shirtsleeves are rolled up to its elbows, Jayce can see the fine, thin lines running up its forearms, the divots in the synthskin showing where the metal plating must connect below.
