Summary
Inspired by Chaper 12 of RoW. What if one of Shallan's truths were admitting her feelings for Kaladin to Kaladin? Canon divergent AU where, Veil comes to Kaladin instead of Adolin. It's a slow-ish burn because spren and the damnably honorable prude that is Kaladin Stormblessed. Most of Chapters 1-4 is Veil/Shallan/Kaladin lead up with some angst, feelings, puns, fluff, needling banter, and pesky spren thrown in. The dubious consent is pretty tame and is over by Chapter 2. The Shalladin smut really starts in Chapter 5 and the Kadolin smut starts in Chapter 9, and continues in Chapter 11, if that's why you're here, but there’s some gay panic, Adolin forces Kaladin to take a spa-level bath, and the spren become a scourge on human intimacy in between. Chapter 12 is mostly Shakadolin fluff and merciless puns.

Shallan's voice was hushed and urgent. “I can’t do this anymore, Adolin," she whispered. "Lying to him every time I look at him."
“We’re not lying, we’re just not telling him,” said Adolin.
“That’s the same as lying!" raised Shallan her voice and then continued, sounding almost pained. "How much longer?”
“Just until we’ll find a place for him, we can’t kick him out on the street.” The words punched air out of Kaladin's lungs. Were they talking about him? They didn't want him to live with them anymore?
Shallan continued, “I know, I don’t want to do that either, but Kal…” Kaladin's stomach cramped stronger, but it wasn't from hunger this time.
“I thought we could make it work at first," sighed Adolin, clearly disappointed but not surprised. "But after what happened I think it’s a lost cause.” What happened? What did I do? What did I do? pulsed in Kaladin's head. He took few steps back, as if he could run away from their hurtful words.

Adolin’s determined not to screw up what he has with Shallan. However, he can’t stop thinking about the bossy med student who saved him in an alley fight. Unbeknownst to him, neither can his sorta kinda girlfriend.
Kaladin just wants to keep Bridge Four afloat and is certainly not developing feelings for any spoilt rich people.
