Enji Todoroki couldn’t move. Doesn’t dare to. His eyes were transfixed on the villain, Legacy.
The villain had an eye patch over his left eye while the right eye, a dark grey glared at him. His left side was a patchwork of burned skin and healthy skin stapled together like an arts and crafts project while the right was bandaged like a mummy with black skin peeking through. A long black tattered coat draped over him dramatically.
But the most attention drawing feature of the villain Legacy is the red and white hair, split perfectly in half as the black wig that was previuosly hiding his identity hung off the villain’s fingers.
Legacy allowed it to fall to the ground.
“You really should call me by my respectable name. Call me Shoto.” Legacy grinned in a deranged and unhinged way.Or the Todoroki children are in a time loop and taking advantage of it to work through their various issues. And Endeavor greatly suffers each time.

Summary
Kuzon never meant to betray his nation.
He never meant to end up in the Spirit World.
And he never meant to end up in the future.
All he wanted to do was find his best friend Aang at the Southern Air Temple. But after discovering that his best friend was the avatar and promising Monk Gyatso that he would find Aang, Kuzon spent the rest of childhood hiding from his nation and searching for Aang. At some point along the way, he slipped into the Spirit World. When he finally finds a way out, more time has passed than Kuzon could ever imagine. The Fire Nation has almost completely taken over the world and the avatar has only just resurfaced after one hundred years of silence. Kuzon knows that it's been far too long for it to ever be /his/ avatar, but he'll track down this new avatar no matter what it takes.
And, while he's at it, taking down the Fire Nation sounds pretty nice, too.
tl;dr: A fic where Kuzon pops out of the Spirit World after almost a hundred years, decides to go to Ba Sing Se and ends up becoming an older brother to Zuko while working in the same tea shop.

In which Kya, Hakoda, and Bato found the Last Airbender years ago. And Aang never had a reason to reveal he was the Avatar until he lost his best friend.
In which an angry thirteen year old prince desperately needs a guardian and Aang desperately needs to be needed.
