There were a few other people in the shop, spread out over the highchairs and lush couches (which did not have curious stains and stuffing falling out of them). All looked tired and cranky, and there was a suspicious looking guy with white hair in the corner, bobbing his head to whatever he was listening to from his headphones and blinking wide, violet eyes that darted all around the coffee shop in a way that made Sakura highly suspect he’d taken some interesting drugs in the past few hours. Or maybe just had too many coffee drinks. Same thing, really.

“Go,” Sakura said sharply. “Take Sai too and get as far outside the blast radius as you can.” She tossed an anchor to senpai, who caught it easily. “We’ll get as far back as we can, before Shino loses control; when the time comes, I’ll bring us through to you.”
There wasn’t really time for arguments, so Kakashi-senpai only nodded sharply before signaling the retreat to the others.
“Right,” Sakura said, taking a deep breath even as her muscles quivered with tension. “Let’s do this.”

At first, he'd worried that the behavior would promote an early budding, much like Haruno Michiko, but Sakura had never lost the innocence that made it painful to not interfere.
“I have to. Hopefully so that I can stay with you for a long, long time,” he reassured her.
She peered at him suspiciously through eyes of Haruno green, but then she nodded. "A long, long time," she parroted. "Promise?"
"It's a forever kind of promise."

After the Boys(TM) leave Konoha, Sakura is left all alone. Luckily, Kakashi doesn't abandon his teammates and takes it upon himself to make Sakura his apprentice, much to Lady Tsunade's frustration.

Oh, sealing application. A—what?—day or two after her first introduction to seals? Great.
“Well, I better tag along and make sure my cute little apprentice doesn’t do anything too awe inspiring,” he said jovially, not at all joking.
Sakura laughed.
“Yeah, who knows, Shisho,” she rolled her eyes, voice full of sarcasm, “I might reinvent the hiraishin, or something.”
Kakashi tried not to think about that too hard as a possibility.
Sakura stopped, squinting into the distance, head tilted in thought.
Oh, gods. She gave herself ideas.

“You’re fraternizing with the enemy,” Neji said stubbornly once he was safely on the ground and finished spitting out water.
“I’m going to karaoke with Ino,” Sakura said, her tone flatter than an ironing board. “If anything, she’s fraternizing with me.”
“The exam starts in a week!” Neji insisted and it was really a miracle he’d not stomped his foot to emphasize his bratty mood. “You could use some discretion!”
“Oh my god!” Sakura yelled. “Just say you’re jealous and want in on it!”
“I want in on it!” Neji hollered.
“Fine! Six pm, you great idiot! Don’t be late!”
“Fine! Guard!”
