Why is this happening to him? What did he do to deserve such a sorry title?
“I don’t know. You’re so you man, so Reki, people probably can’t handle that.”If Reki tenses, his friend doesn’t mention it. If his face contorts multiple times to the point where it’s so unlike Reki to wear an expression like that on his face, his friend doesn’t notice it. Because it’s just so Reki to hide himself so well, build walls so carefully around himself that nobody stops and thinks that someone like him is just so miserable.
“Yeah I guess you’re right,” Reki laughs but it sounds like a dying animal, “I’m just too Reki.”

Reki feels undeserving of Langa, I mean out of all the fish in the sea...him? really? So Reki does what he does best and isolates himself and yeah, no, Langa isn't allowing any of that.

Summary
Lately, time feels like it skips without him. Like the world keeps moving while he's trying to catch his breath. Reki can't shake the feeling that something's off, like his board isn't the only thing slipping out from under him. He just wants things to go back to how they were. But maybe moving forward means learning how to stand still first.

Due to a force-of-habit error, Reki ends up joining Langa in Canada for Christmas, and he finds homesickness harder to deal with than he initially thought. Langa does his best to make Canada just as much of a home to Reki as it is for him, but no road home comes without its cracks and bumps.

Summary
After the ill-fated tournament run by Adam, the S community starts to take notice of Langa, the new skateboarding prodigy. That's nothing new. But they also notice his board, which leads to Reki getting a commission.
Reki now has to work through his self-worth issues while also dealing with this more-than-friendship thing he has going on with Langa.
At the same time, Langa is considering his options for the future. Should he go pro with skateboarding? He's not concerned with winning medals or being in skate magazines, he just wants to have fun with Reki and his friends. And speaking of Reki, should he just... act on these feelings, or will that scare Reki away?
// basically, I need Reki to get the recognition he deserves, and I need Langa to have some aspirations for the future, and there's a lovely little current of Renga pining under all of that :)

Summary
Reki didn’t want things to change. He wanted Langa to keep leaving those confessions without a girl holding his hand. He knew it was selfish, but he liked the time he spends with Langa and didn’t want to have to fight for his attention. And he knew exactly how the story would go. He’d be dropped for this new person when langa found out how much better they were than him. How Langa could actually love the other person back while reki is only able to wish for the same affection from the sidelines. Reki suddenly realized he isn’t really content with that, but it’s the harsh reality.

Summary
Reki is a poor aspiring artist hired for the summer by a wealthier family to work on commissioned paintings, with the guidance of local artist Sakurayashiki Kaoru. He doesn't expect to bond with the family or their son, and he certainly doesn't expect said son to completely flip his world upside down and make him re-evaluate everything he knows about himself.
Langa is struggling to find his place in the world as a nineteen-year-old with countless opportunities, burdened by familial and societal pressures to start a career and be married to a woman, despite having no interest in doing so. When his family decides to patronize an unknown artist, he discovers that he's capable of determining his own life path. However, nothing is ever that simple, and the barriers to their futures overlap in frustrating ways.

Reki decides he absolutely must bring snow to Okinawa to make him feel better. Through a grueling series of odd jobs and favors, in only one weekend he makes enough money to buy a snow machine. Because he’d do anything for Langa.

Langa had just gotten on the plane 2 minutes ago, and Reki already felt lost without him. He shrugged off the feeling, 'How pathetic.' his mind supplied. Langa had just boarded the plane; he couldn’t be missing him this much already. A smile ghosted across the edges of his lips, a weak attempt at convincing himself that these weren’t going to be the worst two weeks of his life.

So when one of his classmates teases him about his lack of relationship experience, accusing him of being immune to love, Reki blurts out the biggest lie he has ever told to the entire class.
Reki knows he won't be able to take this one back, and Langa insists that everything will be okay. Well, that’s until he starts having these weird reoccurring dreams.

Langa frowns but moves his hand to make it seem like he was about to do their dap, but instead of a high five, he catches Reki's hand and holds it within his own. His worried gaze scans over him. "You'd tell me if there was anything wrong, right?"
"Of course I would." Reki wriggles out of Langa’s grip then he pats his shoulder. "There's nothing wrong with me anyways."
Reki isn’t scared. Reki can’t be scared. It wouldn’t make sense, he's had Hanahaki before.

Hanahaki is fairly common disease in Japan, it's not a new topic for Reki. Many medicines and treatments for Hanahaki have been developed in Japan; so when Reki suddenly develops a case for it, initially, he wasn't worried.
Until he realized, Japan was eight thousand kilometers away.
