When people thought of L they thought of the secluded, awkward sugar-tooth detective that he is. Not the young, curious teen he was. They never thought of his wild girl. And the way her face shone through every enjoyable memory he had. Her smile was engraved in his mind like a wretched parasite, and her skin was burned into his like a scalding brand. She was a breath of air after suffocating. The beauty of the morning after the dark. She was the K that L followed anywhere.

Summary
The pandemic ended the world, but the infected made sure it stayed dead. You learned to survive by trusting nothing and no one, least of all a stranger with a voice filled with venom and soldier's eyes.
