Summary

In order to work toward solving the case, Shawn lets himself get hypnotized on stage and proceeds to get handsy. And then bad things happen, rocks fall, everyone doesn’t-quite-die, but Gus is not happy, because his friendship with Shawn reaches tipping point.

Which was how Anakin Skywalker found himself in his current predicament: falling a thousand stories to who-knows-where in the depths of Coruscant's lower levels.
Sure, Palpatine had betrayed him to a extent that he was only beginning to understand, there were three murdered Jedi in the Chancellor's office, he didn't know if Padmé was going to be alright, and it was completely possible that he was going to end up as a bloody smear across the windshield of a speeder, but the fact remained that he and Obi-Wan had just spent the last ten minutes shrieking at one another like a pair of younglings to such a degree that they forgot about the Sith Lord in the room.

Evan smells like sweat and, honestly, a little like come, which—he knows Evan is quick the first time, so he's not going to complain if Evan got himself off already, knowing Tommy was on his way over and wanting to make things last longer between them. Maybe Evan will tell him what he was thinking about; that could be a fun game. Tommy usually likes to direct things, but he’s open to ideas—
And then Eddie fucking Diaz walks out of the bathroom in a towel and a cloud of shampoo-scented steam.
"Hey Tommy," Eddie says, like they're running into each other at the supermarket.
Tommy's brain entirely shuts down for a long hanging second. Before it reboots, he blurts out, "Did you guys have sex?"

Eddie reaches a hand, slowly, towards the cat, palm up and open like he was taught to greet dogs, and the beast hisses at him.
“Oh, relax,” he says, rolling his eyes, and inches his hand closer. “I’m bigger than you.”
The cat’s eyes are narrowed into slits, zeroed in on his hand, but she doesn’t hiss again. Eddie’s not sure how she does it, but he gets the distinct impression that she’s doing him a huge favour when she finally lets him get close enough to run gentle fingers over the top of her head.
Her fur is dry and chalky, like she’s got a layer of grime settled on top of her. Eddie’s familiar with the feeling.

except, as it turns out, falling apart happens in increments, and healing does, too: it happens when you gnaw a hole in your lip trying to keep quiet only to have the words escape; when you realize that the ghost you've been seeing out of the corner of your eye is yourself; when your best friend smiles, and you allow it to take your breath away.
it happens through the smallest of things: bird feeders, and cacti, and pasta shapes.
