Tsukasa just hummed at first, his gaze trailing Rui's. He seemed to be choosing his next words with careful precision.
“I've heard rumors.”
“Rumors?” Rui's gaze wandered back to Tsukasa. The latter just stared at him before continuing.
“Dark schemes are afoot in the streets.” Tsukasa’s voice was calm, but every word was deliberate. His gaze followed the spot where Rui’s had frozen earlier again. “Merchants selling forbidden books to a sole man.”
“That… That sounds dreadful. Rui could barely get the words out, his throat was dry.
An uncomfortable silence fell between them. But then came what Rui feared most.
“I know that you buy these books, Rui.”
