Summary
Hirose has accepted his role as the group medic. Helping everyone stay afloat and healthy is the least he can do to keep group morale up, and it's something he knows he can do well. So, when Tei requests his help after Ikeda locks himself in the bathroom with an injury, he doesn't hesitate to lend his aid.
But, as Ikeda starts to reveal things about his homelife to him, Hirose just doesn't know if he can do enough...for Ikeda or himself.
(Or, Hirose is asked to check up on Ikeda whilst he's regressing. It reawakens a lot of repressed memories for them both.)

The game’s creators, their wardens, wanted him to start thinking like that. They wanted him to be desperate, to cling to life with everything he had, even if it meant destroying somebody else’s.
Unfortunately for them, Kazutoshi had already learned long ago that the world hated him and wanted him dead, and that every single second spent defying that fate was him raising a massive middle finger at God. He had chosen to keep living out of spite, but he refused to do it through the terms set out by the killing game.
And that meant that if he wanted to experience any of those simple, lovely dreams, he was going to have to get everyone out of this alive.
