My feelings were foreign- it had been so long since I had felt this way. My heart beating a little faster, palms sweaty. I wanted to get closer. As close as I could. But Jacob and I were friends. Good friends. Best friends, even. If I kissed him now, I would ruin things. I needed his company like plants needed the sun. That’s what he was. My sunshine.
If we kissed, I would not be able to undo it. If things went awry. If he had to leave, I would be ruined.

The way his brown hair never seemed to stay in place, how his voice made Edward tense up, or maybe it was the fact that his baggy band shirts left Edward wondering what body the boy was hiding beneath. If someone was this obsessed with someone, it must mean they hate him, right?
