Summary
Endurance and stamina worked as a muscle. A fighter trained until each muscle was stronger, a runner would sprint longer until their tolerance improved for further distances. His fruit worked on stamina, on energy, so repeated use would naturally develop his power further. The difficulty came in the shape of stamina itself; when he pushed himself to collapse, he became vulnerable. He couldn’t afford vulnerability.
Leaving Punk Hazard should have made Law elated. Vergo was defeated, Caesar was captured, the human experimentation (how it had made him sick) was now foiled- he had every right to be pleased.
Despite all success, Law was fated to fail. In the next few days, he knew everything would quickly escalate. All because of a small empty vial in his coat pocket and his lack of foresight.
Or
When Law discovered a compound in the depths of Vegapunk's lab in Punk Hazard, a stimulant to increase energy, he uses it to train his devil fruit in preparation for Dressrosa. He did not account for leaving so suddenly. He did not account for withdrawal.

Summary
Vivi was a worrier. She didn’t want to be. It was exhausting, always fighting back against the voice in the corner of her mind. That little voice that started as just a whisper, offering the slightest suggestion that things could go wrong. Just one disaster away from snowballing into the worst case scenario. She knew it was irrational, just her anxiety and fear getting the better of her, but right now she felt the voice was right - and she didn’t know how to drown it out. Nami might die. Nami was dying. And it was her fault. If they never met, Nami wouldn’t be on her deathbed right now.

Summary
The following day in the kitchens was very entertaining. For everyone who wasn’t Little Eggplant, at least.
“See, it’s an orange,” Patty was saying, shoving it proudly into the kid’s face. “It’s round and starts with an O sound, so when you see a circle on a piece of paper-”
“I know how to read!” The brat interrupted indignantly. His face was beet-red—the orange wasn’t the first comparison the cooks made—and he snatched the fruit from Patty’s hands, storming off to prepare the dessert he needed it for.
With every letter and the following assurances of his literacy, which grew higher in pitch each time, Zeff couldn’t help but be certain that the boy was simply too proud to admit his lack of skill.
Or: There's a bit of a misunderstanding going on in the early days of Baratie. But then again, who could blame Zeff for assuming this random kid couldn't read?
