It had begun as a tremor through his hand, then an itch that blanketed across every inch of Peters skin. By the time the field trip was over and he was on the bus home, it had bubbled up into a fever that sent him stumbling blindly through his apartment’s door, barely able to fumble for his key long enough with his blurring vision to unlock the damn door.
May arrived home from her late shift to find him passed out, flat on his face, in the hallway. She’d screamed and later admitted she’d thought that, at a first glance, Peter had been dead.

Summary
Timothy Jackson Drake was born on the 19th of July at 4:45 in the morning, a healthy 6.2 pounds, wailed until he was shoved into the arms of the nearest nurse and rocked to sleep. His father had left only a few minutes after the baby was confirmed as a boy to draft out the announcement, leaving Janet to find sleep herself after a long 12 hours of labour. They would stay in the hospital for a day until the paperwork was filled out and a baby carrier had been delivered.
Timothy saw the blue sky for the first time on a cloudless day, gentle swinging back and forth, as his parents argued in raised voices.
His birthdays would be planned as a marketable event, until he reached the age of 6 when he was no longer considered ‘cute’, and every moment was recorded to plaster over his parents HR-run social media. After his 6th birthday party and the cameras stopped, the streamers were torn down and the decorations packed into boxes to go into storage. His parents were out of the country by noon and Timothy would realise two days later that they weren’t coming back any time soon.

Jason could have taken the moment to run, from the look in his eye that was what Dick was expecting from him, yet remained still and watched amusedly as Dick fought against the tides to stumble over.
He was a hair away, Lego set slowly slipping out of his mittens- fucking mittens, of course he was wearing mittens, oh god they had polka dots too- and the puff of frosty breath he was hyperventilating out tickled against Jason’s skin.
Dick moved in a trance, eyes checking over every pore on his face, before he laughed- not from joy though, closer to the bark of laughter that comes with shock.
“Jay.” He breathed out, face unfearingly and openly fond “I- we thought… Shit.”

Watching the boat drift further across the lake, knowing Freya was aboard underneath the ferns and flowers, Merlin wanted nothing more than to sink with her. He humours the thought for a while, taking a small step closer to the water’s edge- and then he raises a hand with a mutter and the boat catches aflame. The wood and dry leaves catch quickly.
He waits until the last of the flames die before turning on his heel for the laborious journey back to Camelot.

It wasn’t an ill-made prediction, Persephone was stood at the bottom of the steps glaring at the crowd with her hands on her hips. Nico winced in momentary sympathy for the rabble; he’d been on the end of her wrath before.
“Hm,” Hades hummed in agreement “Have you been watching the soul?”
Nico followed his father’s line of sight to where a half-transparent man in a long light brown trench coat sat on the floor, cross-legged, looking far too pleased with himself. He was turning his head back and forth between the two loudest arguers of the crowd, stifling laughter behind his fist.

There was only one heartbeat still in the office and it was racing. Matt stood up shakily from his chair, searching for the slightest sound of his friends "Foggy? Whatever you’re doing, stop it, it’s not funny. Karen?"
The cars in the streets begin to swerve about wildly, a few crash in deafening screeches and glass shatters, spilling out onto the roads. Children crying, parents calling out names, gasps of the injured wondering what the fuck is going on, shouting about dust of all things? With both headphones gone, his assist tumbled off the desk with his sudden movements, everything was somehow so much quieter.
The noise, the overwhelming chatter and smells, had been halved- almost exactly halved.
