Sometimes, Hyeongjun still closes himself off.
It’s hard, for all of them, when Hyeongjun gets like this, but it’s especially hard for Jooyeon. Because in those moments, it only seems like Hyeongjun can talk to everyone else besides Jooyeon. He’ll let Seungmin pat his head, he'll respond to Gunil’s questions and he will even smile at Jiseok.
He barely bats an eye at Jooyeon.
Or: Jooyeon wants Hyeongjun to talk to him.

It didn’t begin at the fansign—but in a way, it did.
The eyes were blank, wide, dark and luminous at the same time, and painfully familiar like a song half-remembered. But that wasn’t possible, because they were decidedly not human, which in itself shouldn’t have been possible—and yet there they were, staring right at him.
Ever since Jiseok was young, he’d had adults telling him he was an "old soul". It's only when he receives a strange gift from a fan and his life is turned inside-out that he's forced to confront what that really means.

Jooyeon would have had to have been blind to not notice Kwak Jiseok, who even from the other side of the classroom shone like a gem amongst coalstones. But he never would have imagined that Kwak Jiseok had ever noticed him, or ever seen him as anything more than the class clown who sometimes showed up to school with bruises that no one ever dared ask about.
Jooyeon has a heart of gold and a mean right hook. Jiseok has a keen eye and a wall around his heart.
They fall in love. And they save each other.
