Victor turned back to him, supernova smile in place once more. “I really, really like you. Promise you’ll still dance with me at the banquet if you take gold this time around.”
Yuuri stared at the man. He looked at their entwined hands—he hadn’t wanted to pull away—and their thighs, pressed together despite there being plenty of room in the backseat of the cab. That scent of Victor’s cologne—just a dab, lightly applied somewhere on his neck—swirled around him. This was too real to be a dream, too physical for him to have imagined it.
“I’m sorry,” Yuuri said slowly. “But…have we talked before?”

“Hey, Buck,” Steve says, his voice soft. Bucky lays on his side, pressing a cheek to the soft carpeting, wishing he hadn’t ruined all his blankets. He hates feeling cold and it’s a little cold in his room. “You don’t have to talk or come out or anything, but… I’m going to lay here, okay? All night. I’m going to stay right here so you don’t forget that it’s different now. So you don't forget that you’re safe. You’re not alone.”
Bucky doesn’t know what to say to that. Even if he did know, his tongue is doing that heavy-sticky thing again. Instead, he slides his flesh fingers under the crack in the door, barely able to fit the tips, and waits. A moment passes. Then Steve’s fingers are pressing right back.
And maybe Steve is right. Maybe things are different, maybe he is safe, maybe he’s not alone.
Maybe - just maybe - he’ll be able to get himself back after all, piece by piece.

“This is a great apology,” Steve says, sarcasm thick.
“I already said I was sorry,” the man responds impatiently. He clearly regrets coming to make amends, and Steve’s own frustration is growing again. What is it about this man that just pushes every button Steve has?
“Forgive me if I don’t feel the sincerity, ” Steve says. The man glares.
“Take it or leave it.” He turns to leave again. Steve remembers his other dilemma.
“How about instead of an apology, you extend my stay,” Steve says. The man stops walking.
“What?” Bucky looks at him like that’s the last thing he expected him to say. Steve nods and then smirks.
“For free. Two weeks.” They hold each other’s stare, Bucky’s eyes unforgiving. Steve has to school his face to hide his desperation, but he’s running out of money, and he can’t go back to New York.
He hates how badly he wants to know what this guy’s deal is. They stare at each other for a whole minute. The air is crisp and tense.
“One,” Bucky says and then gets in his car and leaves.
OR
Steve runs away to Nantucket where he meets a very angry, very closed off baker who doesn't know how badly he wants to be loved until Steve shows him.

Bucky Barnes apparently needs a date for Natasha Romanoff’s wedding. Although he might have skipped the whole thing entirely, if it weren’t for their daughter being Natasha’s flower girl and all. He just hasn’t been in a romantic mood these past, oh, six years or so. It’s not really the kid’s fault, and he doesn’t resent her for it, but he’s hardly dated since she came along unexpectedly. There are a few other reasons he doesn’t want to get back in the game, anyway.
Well, there’s one reason he doesn’t want to date anyone.
That reason goes by the name of Steve Rogers, his best friend since childhood, and the guy who’s practically raising his daughter with him despite “not liking kids”, the love of his life who absolutely doesn’t see him that way.
Steve, meanwhile, is hellbent on getting Bucky back in the saddle, as it were. He’s been dating, recently, and he thinks Bucky’s social life could use some work. And as they all know, Steve Rogers does not go down without a fight.
