It was a known fact that Yuuri knew five languages, the clip where it was revealed to the world became a popular meme and reaction GIF to confusion or the possibility of multiple answers. When Victor flew all the way to Japan to train Yuuri one would think he would be the most diehard fan, or even a casual one. Seeing as how Victor had only become a diehard fan a day prior he knew very little about his new student, including what languages he spoke.
Five times Victor found out that Yuuri spoke a language and one time he found out that Yuuri was intending to learn another.

Yuuri’s pretty sure Viktor’s discomfort has to do with the bottles in his hands—all of their labels are borderline illegible, but he peers down at them nonetheless, trying to puzzle out this interaction.
“I… I need you to help me re-dye my roots,” Viktor says. He sounds slightly pained.
It’s probably good that Yuuri is as tired as he is. It’s probably also good that this isn’t happening to sixteen year old Yuuri; while he would have relished the chance to touch Viktor’s hair, there’s also a high likelihood he would’ve broken down into tears at the news that that hair was, in fact, not natural.
