She was numb.
Even though she was in a desert nothing changed. She had the maiden’s magic, but it meant nothing. Or maybe it meant everything
They’d been escorted to the city. She felt numb.
There were endless talks, and meetings. She attended, but offered little unless needed. Several other maidens were there. It should have been at least interesting, but it wasn’t.

Summary
She’d spied them a few weeks ago, although they’d probably been coming longer. She didn’t know their story, which considering she’d never talked to them made sense, but it just seemed strange.
Personally she’d taken the job at the roller skating rink for the laid back atmosphere. She’d kept it because of the same reasons, and decent pay.
Through it all she’d seen quite a few couples, some older, some new, and all sorts of child, and parent combinations walk through the doors.
Yet somehow those two caught her eyes. She didn’t know why. The fact that they were her age might have helped, but really it was just something about them.
