Summary
The Darkling's tent was large and ominous and quite a distance from the cartographer’s tent, but Alina ran to it, slamming up against the oprichniki at its entrance instead of a proper stop, breath thready and voice high with exertion.
"Please," she said between great lungfuls of dusty air. "I need to see the Darkling."
"You don't belong here, Shu bint."
The urgency running through Alina's very blood coiled around itself, an anger boiling in her veins that she pushed away, willing it not to dull the momentum of her singleminded mission.
"It's about the Fold," she breathed, frustrated, muscles singing with exertion. She pulled out one of her maps from the last month out from underneath her arm, shaking it in the face of the closest oprichniki.
"It's shrinking."Two months before Mal and Alina are charted for their journey across the Fold, Alina enlists the help of the Darkling when the Fold begins to shrink. One Shadow Summoner-- and a Sun Summoner who has practiced her power every night since youth underneath thin duvets.

Summary
Being a lifeguard was not the plan. It still isn’t, really.
Or at least, it isn’t the long-term plan.
But uni isn’t free, and neither is food or housing, so since she has to be here anyways for school at JNU, she figured that at least she’d get to enjoy the beaches.
Plus, with the advanced training she had from her time as a lifeguard while she (ironically) floundered at UCSD, she’d been eagerly accepted into the fold of Jeju Island’s less experienced team.
So it’s not so bad, Dumb Boy and his ilk aside.
And she does get tons of time to explore the island and its various tide pools, which is great for her morale and her research on the effects of global warming on the species in said tide pools. And sometimes, she gets to help some baby sea turtles get to the water, which feels like actual magic.
So, overall, not a bad gig.
Especially since the two (very pretty, oh my god) girls she noticed seem to have taken notice of her, eyeing her up from under their umbrella, the taller of the two not particularly seeming to care when Zoey sees.
‘Interesting.’Zoey is a hot lifeguard. Mira and Rumi are hot for the lifeguard.

Don't worry - this is a long haul endeavor. Zoey is my favorite character because I relate to her the most and I LOVE writing some angst and hurt/comfort from her perspective - and I have tons of ideas for hurt/comfort oneshots involving her and Mira and Rumi and Bobby and our favorite comfort animals, Derpy and Sussie! I see Zoey and Mira and Rumi as friends/sisters - I suppose you can read many of my stories as Polytrix if you squint, but it's intended to be read like they're best friends navigating the complicated world of demon hunting and stardom with their adoptive father Bobby. I will happily take requests for hurt/comfort or fluff or angst prompts you guys would like to see!

Summary
Here's a little glimpse into the chaotic, traumatized mind of poor Zoey. Honestly this drabble was an excerpt from my upcoming chapter for my other story "We're Shattering the Silence," but I don't feel like it fits anymore and I still wanted to share. This is a deep dive into Zoey's past trauma and how she (tries to) handle it in the present. There's some heavy stuff here - implied child neglect, references to Zoey being bullied, implied/referenced alcohol abuse (Zoey's Dad), Zoey has a panic attack, implied eating disorders, etc. Sorry in advance! <3 Poor Mira and Rumi (and Bobby) try their best, but Zoey needs so many more hugs and therapy. If you guys like this semi-chaotic, flashback-ridden introspective character study, I'd be happy to try to continue! If not, no worries and hope you still kinda enjoy! Love you all! <3

The next day Rumi sat with Mira in homeroom, and Mira carried Rumi’s lunch despite Rumi insisting that it was unnecessary. They remained a duo until senior year, when Celine made a gut-punch decision to expand the scope of auditions to North America.
Once they met Zoey, they became Huntrix. Bandmates, best friends, family.
Family. If Rumi treated Mira and Zoey terribly, it’s only because she learned from the best. The only family she’s ever known.

Summary
After the disaster that was the Idol Awards, nothing is normal and Zoey has been picking up everyone else's broken pieces. But one night, an encounter with a demon makes her confront her inner demons, wrestle with everything she's ever known, and break in a way she can't come back from.
Sorry, I know the summary sucks, BUT this story is a deep dive into the nature of Zoey/Mira/Rumi's roles as demon hunters, what that means now that they know demons are people capable of redemption, and how they deal with (or rather, don't deal with) the trauma that comes with their newfound understanding of good and evil.
I know this SAYS part one of a series, but it can be read as a standalone story! I'm just grouping it with the other story (or stories eventually!) that delve into emotional struggles like this! :-)
