Summary
Alina raises her chin, meeting his gaze. “There’s been a mistake. I’m leaving.”
“Is that so?”
“Yes,” she repeats firmly, going slightly pink. “I’m sorry, but I’m not what you’re looking for. I’m n-not—“
“A whore?” He nods in sympathy, as if she’s told him something mundane about a snapped button or uncooperative weather. “Well, that,” he says, “isn't for you to decide anymore, is it, pet?”

It's fine, they usually "fade to black" on the sex. She gets pregnant at the end.

Summary
The Darkling's tent was large and ominous and quite a distance from the cartographer’s tent, but Alina ran to it, slamming up against the oprichniki at its entrance instead of a proper stop, breath thready and voice high with exertion.
"Please," she said between great lungfuls of dusty air. "I need to see the Darkling."
"You don't belong here, Shu bint."
The urgency running through Alina's very blood coiled around itself, an anger boiling in her veins that she pushed away, willing it not to dull the momentum of her singleminded mission.
"It's about the Fold," she breathed, frustrated, muscles singing with exertion. She pulled out one of her maps from the last month out from underneath her arm, shaking it in the face of the closest oprichniki.
"It's shrinking."Two months before Mal and Alina are charted for their journey across the Fold, Alina enlists the help of the Darkling when the Fold begins to shrink. One Shadow Summoner-- and a Sun Summoner who has practiced her power every night since youth underneath thin duvets.

A scent that lingers, something that can't be hidden even behind ten thousand dollar suits and watches.
Sees Aleksander Morozova and knows she should leave. Should run.

“You misunderstand, Alina,” Nikolai licks his lips. “I’m not giving you to the Darkling.”
“Oh?”
“We intend to share you,” Aleksander’s nose skims the vulnerable junction of her neck, voice low enough that she feels it scrape in her bones.
