    At least that’s what she told herself as she reached the Danger Room vent and peered through the grates of the cover, blinking back her surprise when she spotted a head of familiar silver hair. There was only one mutant in the entire school with natural metallic hair like that: Mr Maximoff, every student’s favourite gym teacher.

    “-God, pops, we’ve had this conversation a thousand times before,” Mr Maximoff sighed as he scrubbed at the lenses of his iconic goggles with the edge of his shirt.

    “We shall have it a thousand times more if it means you might reconsider.”

    Or, Kitty is just trying to read her book in peace when she stumbles upon an argument between her gym teacher Mr Maximoff and his father, the infamous Magneto. Turns out the students aren't the only ones who miss Mr Maximoff when he's gone.

    “It’s alright to not be fine, Peter,” Erik replied, much to the boy’s surprise. And though his voice was calm and comforting, his gaze was nearly piercing as he said, “You wanted to see your sisters- you were excited to spend time with them. It’s understandable that you’re disappointed. You don’t have to pretend otherwise, especially not to me.”

    Nodding slowly, Peter let out a resigned sigh and rested his head back against the edge of the windowsill. “It just feels so stupid… getting wound up like this,” he said bluntly. There was no point trying to escape their heart to heart now. Lord knows that hadn’t gone down well when he’d tried to bolt after confessing the truth to Erik almost a year ago. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad that they’re enjoying their lives and that they’ve found people that make them happy, I just… can’t help but feel that they’re leaving me behind, y’know?”
