Riley was never sure of what the building Playtime Co. used had going on. Even when they were interning there. But, a planned to be ‘quick visit’ in and out after receiving a letter telling them everyone was still there turns into a long game of chase with monsters still left in the building. And along with realizing the gory horrors Playtime had hiding just under the surface, they learn that they cannot die. Whether through some supernatural force or their mind being their worst enemy.
Seems there was a lot more down here than they anticipated.

Angelo comes back to the factory after getting a strange letter, thinking he finally got in trouble for faking to be sick (he’s surprised he took them years to realize)
And is welcomed by very angry, hungry and Hangry toys, and unlike other angel’s this one isn’t one that can get through intelligence, instead he uses the power of brute force which ironically keeps more toys alive than the ones who never threw a punch.

That sweet little face looking up at him, smiling as bright as the sun, eyes shining with nothing but pure adoration as he clutched that pathetic excuse for a flute—terribly carved by the graceless fingers of a five year old—to his chest like it was some precious, perfect treasure. ‘I think about this flute you gave me as if it were you, brother.’
The demon that had once been Tsugikuni Michikatsu took his hand off his sword.
