“How about that one?” said Charles. He was pointing to a human-presenting figure with a fedora hat and a furry jacket. “David. Doesn’t sound like a criminal’s name.”
Edwin looked up at him from behind his lashes. “Should I remind you that we are also on this website?”
“Well, at least we don’t wear a fedora hat,” retorted Charles, and Edwin had to agree with that. If you had to be an outlaw, you could at least do it with a certain style.
Edwin tapped twice over the image to expand the details of the case. “They are offering one million tickets. Almost as good as me.”
“I swear sometimes you sound proud when you say that.”

In an ever expanding Universe enforcing law is tricky. The Human Intergalactic Organisation introduced a system of rewards to encourage everyone to do their part in finding criminals and bringing them to their planet for trial. This had the unintended consequence of creating the new career of the Bounty Hunter which, for its nature, became especially popular for those living outside of society, for whom other sources of outcome are unattainable.

Charles is looking idly at the group of instructors to try and guess which one may be Crystal, but the moment Niko’s name is called, everything else fades to the background. The boy walking towards his best friend is the most beautiful Charles has ever seen. It feels like time has slowed down as he watches him shake Niko’s hand and start talking to her in a light, melodious voice. He looks about Charles’ age, tall, his sweater a dark forest green that matches his eyes. Unprompted, Charles’ brain starts to wonder what those long legs would look like without the padded ski trousers, if they are as thin and elegant as they seem - nothing untowards, a pair of skinny jeans would be great.
“Close your mouth, you’ll catch flies. You are with me,” a voice supplies close to his side, followed by two quick snaps of fingers. “So? What is your starting level? Or do you want to spend our two hours staring at Edwin?”
“I-” Charles shakes his head to focus. “Zero, my starting level is zero.”

“24 hours?”
“24 hours. From the minute the clock strikes midnight. Do we have a deal?”
The woman extends her hand, the hazy outline of her fingers flickering in the candlelight like the ripples of water. She isn’t a ghost, not exactly (not like the boys are at least), but she also isn’t not. It’d been a perplexing case, full of magic and mystery far beyond the extent of what the Dead Boy Detectives had explored in the past few decades. She had explained, and Edwin had taken careful note of the specifics, but it still doesn’t really make all that much sense.
What makes even less sense is how exactly the spell she’s offering works, her magic surpassing Edwin’s, something supernatural and spiritual like the Cat King’s, far beyond the boy’s comprehension… but god if the appeal isn’t enough to make the two ghosts consider throwing caution to the wind.

Lance loved how worked up he still got at their antics even after all this time, almost as much as he loved to fuel it more. He poked a straw in one of the blood bags that sat in the middle of the table and took a large gulp.

A new parallel research began, to look into the different decades' fashion and try and find one that represented him more. Because at the end of the day, what did Edwardian London give him but traumas and a brief life he barely remembered?
He decided to try something more modern, and see how it went. Still keeping to the classics, because he really couldn’t bear the thought of other people seeing him in a t-shirt. After a couple of weeks, he was confident enough in his choice of clothes to wear it in public.--
Edwin tries to wear modern clothes for a day. Charles has a lot of feelings about it.

Turning the item in his hands gave him an indescribable feeling. It was so simple, it looked like a small box, and yet it had the power to realise Charles’ greatest dream.
It should have been simple after that to go back to the office and give it to him. Easy, just hop through a mirror and make the person you love most in the word genuinely happy for the first time in thirty-seven years.

“Ugh, you made this joke at least two hundred times in the past months. Shiro, please, end my misery and kill me, or take him away from me. I don’t want to see him for at least one year now!” Another voice replied.

The name made a spark of something light and warm crackle in her chest. She turned and saw the three pilots walking slowly along the corridor, still in their armors, with tired expressions, ruffled hair and their helmets in their hands.
“Keithy boy, you wound me. I thought we were pals! Buddies?” The first voice replied.
Lance.
They were back.
--After the War is over, everyone has moved on with their life, found a job helping the Universe maintain its newfound peace. Pidge works as a scientist on Earth with her family and loves her job more than anything, but there is just one little thing missing.
