“Merlin…” Arthur said as he slowly started to reach for his sword. “Don’t…Move…”
“No, no, no! Arthur, it’s alright!” Merlin said as he moved (because obviously he ignored Arthur’s orders and moved) in front of the desk. “She’s just saying hello!”
“That’s a dragon.” Arthur informed him. Merlin looked over his shoulder for a moment.
“No, it isn’t.”
There was a pause.
“Yes, it is.”
“No.” Merlin shook his head. “It…Uh, is not…A dragon.”
“Then what the Hell is it?!” Arthur asked, not letting his eyes drift away from the fire breathing demon. Yeah. That was definitely a dragon. Merlin clicked his tongue before also staring behind him.
“It is…A…Bird…”
There was another pause.
“You’re really sticking with that?”
“I am, thank you.”
Or
Merlin has to convince the King of Camelot that he is not, in fact, in possession of a dragon. Luckily, the rest of the kingdom has already been won over by the baby dragon and is quite willing to aid in this quest.

Merlin slumped into the room and fell onto the bench of the table across from Gaius, laying his head dramatically on a book of something or other Arthur didn’t bother to look too closely at.
“Cursed.” Gaius echoed, unimpressed.
“Cursed.” Merlin sighed back, like some kind of weepy maiden.
“He can’t lie,” Arthur supplied, walking further into the room and standing behind Merlin, pushing his head off the book roughly. Merlin squawked and glared at him before shaking his head and turning back to Gaius.

“He is quite dashing, thank you. Besides, your bloody bird is too loud-“
“My bird is just trying to do me a favor and tune you out!” Arthur snapped and took a long breath “The point is they can’t be around each other. So unless you want Emmy to pluck out this lion’s eyes I suggest you tell him to bugger off.” He snapped. Merlin was inclined to tell Arthur to bugger off himself, but was immediately distracted by one word.
“Emmy?” He repeated and smiled. “You did name him.”

Arthur, who's just as infuriatingly lovable as Merlin remembers, and also very confused as to why he's suddenly meeting the strange man that has been appearing in his dreams of medieval castles and faraway lands for as long as he can remember. "That's nice, Lance." Keith warily eyed the animal bundled up in the taller boy's arms, "Let it go now, please."
"Nope," He cuddled the raccoon closer to his chest. Keith briefly wondered how he could momentarily assume raccoon form in order to be held by Lance like this.
"Lance please, just-ew, don't."
Keith was ignored. "Aren't you just adorable?" Lance cooed, "I'm gonna name you George Ra-clooney."
"If you let that thing into our room I'm moving out."
He gasped, "Thing?!" He covered the raccoon's ears and angled himself away, "For shame, Keith. She can hear you."
"How do you know it's a girl?" Keith paused, then scrunched his nose, "And why would you name her after George Clooney?"
OR, some conversations between Keith and Lance leading up to them adopting a pet raccoon, falling in love, and facing the endless cockblocks from their (well-meaning) friends.
