Summary
[Time passes oddly. Between one second and the next, Sokka has the Fire Lord pinned to the wall with his hands around the bastard’s throat. Golden eyes (one gold eye, his mind whispers) widen in shock.
“Sokka?” he chokes out. And then he smiles.
What the fuck?
“Sokka, I—”
Sokka slams his head against the wall, once, twice, and the smile wipes off his face. Good.
“What,” Sokka bites out, “have you done to my sister?”]
Or:
An injury leaves Sokka with amnesia. His last memory is of the failed invasion, of leaving his father behind in enemy territory on the Day of Black Sun. Of hopelessness. Rage.
But then he wakes up, and the war is over. Suddenly, he must come to terms with the fact that years have passed, and that he's somehow the Southern Water Tribe Ambassador to the Fire Nation. He is also supposedly friends with banished-Prince-turned-Fire-Lord Zuko, of all people. Close friends.

Mac's seen the local roads and they’re too rough to make a fast getaway by land. “You get to the plane and get the engine started. I’ll distract them with these, and follow.”Jack looks unhappy with the plan, but there’s really nothing else to do except run back to the unkempt wilderness zone at the edge of the property and hope they can disappear into the trees. And that plan still sounds worse. “Fine,” Jack agrees. “But you better be quick about following me. I’m not flying out of here by myself.”
Mac gives him a pat on the shoulder as he picks up his three half-constructed smoke grenades, balancing them on one arm so he can pick up the jug containing the final component in his other hand. “I’ll be right behind you. As long as you can fly that plane, we’ll be fine.”

Summary
DXS is secretive organization, ran very strictly. There is a rigid system of infractions and corporal punishment, escalating in severity in accordance with the severity of the mistake or rule broken. One stipulation is that anyone who should have stopped you is required to witness your punishment.
This element of DXS, while Riley was thoroughly warned about it when she agreed to stay on, always seemed distant and not quite real. Now, with Mac kneeling shirtless and a man whose name she doesn't know standing over him about to beat him while she and Jack can only watch, it’s entirely too real.

The kitchen was bathed in darkness, and instinctively Bruce felt himself freeze at the change of atmosphere enveloping him. Electricity seemed to cut through the room, making the hairs on his arm and neck stand at a point. The silence was deafening and unnatural and the cold he had felt earlier in the study seemed to amplify.
If he could see, he’d find small huffs of vapor coming out of his mouth every time his hot breath met the cold air. Blinking he could see the beginnings of shapes form around him in the darkness. Dick was still standing, his form appearing tall and broad from Bruce’s position on the floor. Neither moved for a moment. Tense and frozen as they waited for something.
