When she heard that children raised by Evil on the Isle of the Lost were being allowed the chance to be Good, she turned her feet south.
She met a traumatised boy named Ben with teeth too sharp to be anything but the descendant of a villain before she found the children she was looking for, but what’s one more lost boy found?
“I have every faith in you, Ben Alone.” Cassandra propped the bin against her hip and dropped a cool kiss to his temple as she left.
Ben had to squeeze his eyes shut and press his nails into his palms not to burst into tears at the casual affection in her voice and actions. If that was the life of commoners, finding distant connections and forging them stronger on nothing more than a stranger’s word, he wished he’d never been born royal.
