Summary
“Just saying, if you’re taking another hit, you should share it with me,” Mike says, and Will slowly tilts his head, drinking in every word. “It just makes sense. Like, mathematically.”
Will’s reddened eyes narrow, bewildered. “Mathematically?”
“If there’s two hits left, we’d each only get one,” Mike explains. “But if we shotgunned, we’d both get two.” God, this is the best idea he’s had in ages. He should’ve stolen Will’s weed, like, months ago. “That’s like, bang for your buck. This is simple math, Will Byers. Keep up.”
In which it’s well past midnight in New York, Will can’t sleep, and Mike feels like they barely know each other anymore.
So, they get a little high. Mike is very normal about all of it.

Summary
After Vecna’s death, and being severed from the hive mind, Will doesn’t feel free — he feels empty. The world goes quiet and distant, his senses fading one by one until pain is the only thing that still reaches him.
He doesn’t tell anyone what’s happening at first, he just takes matters onto his own hands. It starts out simple, pinching his arm during class, biting his lip at the dinner table, throwing a playful punch at Dustin just to receive one back. Small things, safe things, just to keep him grounded.
However, Will’s craving for pain quickly becomes unbearable. His life starts to revolve around finding new ways to hurt himself — and Mike becomes the only thing that makes it manageable. Mike doesn’t know what’s wrong, only that something is, and he agrees to help Will no matter what. As time goes on, Will’s requests grow darker, obsessive and more dangerous, and what starts as concern turns into something binding, pulling the two of them closer together until Will’s need becomes too much to survive.
Soon Mike is forced to choose between being what Will needs and being what might save him, even if it slowly destroys them both.

Summary
“In Las Vegas, I met a psychic once and she read my palms.” Boris slid a slow finger down the skin of Will’s left hand. He stared at it intently, tracing a line up and down, before moving to his right hand. The touch felt electric. “She said there are five main lines and everybody’s different.”
Will swallowed loudly, Boris stepping forward to look closer. “According to her, this one—” Boris motioned to a line between Will’s index and middle finger. “Is your heart line, it shows me your emotions. For you, it’s long, deep and curving up; not broken.”
Boris was smiling again, thumbing the line lightly. “It means you are sensitive, and emotional.” Boris licked his lips, eyes flicking upward to look at Will. “Devoted.”
Or: His senior year in Lenora Hills High, Will Byers meets Boris Pavlikovsky.
