During one of his nightly escapades around Gotham, Tim Drake accidentally finds himself in the middle of a fight between the Bats and the Joker. He’s able to help Robin and get away (largely) unhurt, but the Joker isn’t that lucky. In order to clear his name from Batman’s scrutiny that what happened to the Joker wasn’t an accident, Robin begins his investigation into the child who may have saved his life.
At the same time, Tim’s civilian life also takes a turn. After a pattern of suspicious behavior, Tim discovers that his parents are missing. Overheard conversations with the nanny and suspicious emails become evidence in a plot so deep he can’t even begin to piece it together himself… doesn’t mean he won’t try his best before asking for help, though.
This is a wonderful story and case fic! I think it balances the elements of any good “Tim Joins the Batfam Early” fic (Jason and Tim bonding, Tim being resourceful on his own, etc) and combines it with a genuinely interesting mystery to solve full of suspense and thrills. The characters are amazing and feel fleshed out. I liked getting to see all of the Bats + Tim’s perspectives and understand each of them. Highly recommend!!

A man has started following Tin around wherever he goes. With him, illness seems to follow. As Tim’s health steadily declines, it all becomes too much and he seeks help from one Bruce Wayne.
This one is hard to describe, but it’s a classic to me tbh. The author I think really writes the terrifying nature of this scenario well and it’s nice to see Tim finally figure out what’s been happening to him at the end

Tim’s parents are aware of Mr. Aldringham’s interest in their son, but are able to convince themselves that it’s nothing nefarious. Tim is very vocal about his discomfort with the man until, he realizes, just how futile shouting is when everyone around you expects silence. It’s a lesson he learns quickly and it take him nearly half a decade before he can finally question it again.
A story about making yourself “convenient” in the face of your trauma and the fallout from that. I felt for Tim so many times here, especially him contending with his relationship and view of his parents, reconciling what they did (or didn’t do for him) with the love he still feels for them. Nothing graphic at all in this one but the story is 100% about trauma from SA, so just make sure you’re ready for that if reading

Tim meets Jason during one of his many, many Batwatching escapades. When Jason gets horribly sick, Tim takes him back to Bristol to nurse him back to health and keep him safe from the streets of Gotham. Despite the fact his parents are hardly home, Tim knows that Jason staying with him forever is untenable. However, when the Waynes start to take an interest in their neighbors, Tim hatches a brilliant plan to keep Jason safe and also make sure his parents never find out about him: get Bruce to adopt to adopt Jason. Surely nothing can go wrong with that, right?
I absolutely adore this fic. Tim loves Jason so much and tries so hard to find him a new family without even realizing that he’s becoming a part of this new family too. The heartfelt conversations hit perfectly and also there’s tons of fun and silly antics in between. Definitely recommend this one!

After Tim’s attempts to forge paperwork and pass his Gotham Academy driver’s ed course are discovered, Bruce makes him get his state mandated 50 hours for real this time. It’s ridiculous because of course Tim knows how to drive! … Or at least he mostly does, anyway.
Hilarious from top to bottom! genuinely laughed out loud multiple times reading this fic and it’s such a good pick me up. If you’ve ever gone through the gauntlet of getting your required driving permit hours in, I’m positive at least one of the anecdotes will hit close to home. Highly recommend!

The logical part of Jason’s brain attempts to soothe him by reminding him that Tim is a rich kid and rich kids travel all the time. That rich people travel all the time; not only is that normal, it’s expected. Can the tabloids even call you wealthy if you haven’t used up enough jet fuel in your lifetime to fill the Pacific Ocean?
So, really, it shouldn’t be weird to see little Timmy Drake standing in a Gotham City Airfield hallway, an over-packed bag slung over his tiny shoulders, and looks more sure of himself and his surroundings than some of the employees do.
But it is.___
Or... Jason is trying to run away to Ethiopia, but his genius kid neighbor is making it very difficult

In his attempt to run away to Ethiopia, Jason finds himself lost in the airport. Thankfully, he finds a familiar face in his neighbor, Tim Drake, who’s willing to help him out. However, the more Jason talks with him, the more he has his own questions about what (another) unaccompanied minor is doing waiting for a flight.
I loved their dynamic writing on Tim here (my weird little guy) and the interactions between Jason and Tim! Very enjoyable and a take I liked on the “Jason avoids Ethiopia” concept

In the summer of 1999, Tim Drake is left home alone by his parents. The leaving is common place, but the fact that he’s the man of the house is a bit newer. When he finds himself taking the same bus as Jason Todd and Dick Grayson, it’s the start of a new friendship (and eventually brothership).
I cannot describe the atmosphere and feelings that this fic was able to convey. While Batman and Robin are present in the story, the vigilante-ism side of things is not a huge focus in this fic. Instead, it really does feel like a latchkey kid learning how real, loving relationships work (both the ups and the downs).

It takes him a full week to find (circumstantial, at best) evidence.

Jason discovers that he has a shadow following him around at night. It starts with him leaving something for the person who helped save his life and turns into the two trading small gifts back and forth on the same rooftop every night. Even without ever seeing the shadow’s face, Jason realizes he’s grown attached to the probable street kid following him around at night.
An enjoyable fic! I loved the exchanging of gifts back and forth between Jason and Tim in the first chapter and the danger/tension in the second chapter was also amazing. Just a good fic of Jason becoming a big brother and a protector without even realizing it until it’s too late

That there was something intrinsically wrong with him, like it was woven into his very being.

A brief glimpse into Bernard Dowd, specifically a lot of the aspects we don’t necessarily get to see (but are rather heavily implied) during his reintroduction into comics in Urban Legends and Tim Drake: Robin. Bernard has been growing on me as a character recently and this is exactly the aspects/characterization of him that make him so interesting to me. Highly recommend!

During a school field trip, Bernard is taken hostage by Two Face. Robin doesn’t hesitate to jump in and save him, even though he’s probably much too close to the situation at hand. Through this experience, Tim sees another side of his best friend.
I love the way Bernard is written here and we get to see this clear divide with how he interacts with Robin vs Tim. I think it’s just such good characterization all around in this fic and I would definitely recommend

Duke Thomas is a wholly capable and independent vigilante. He can take care of himself just fine and, as The Signal, is the only one of the day shift, he doesn’t have much choice in the matter anyways. However, when a group of new meta villains kidnaps him, it might finally be time to ask for a bit more assistance… If only he actually had a way to contact them
This is such a wonderful Duke-centric fic. It uses his unique place in the Batfamily as a perfect angst factor, turning everything from his meta powers to his role as being the only one who patrols during the day into a very compelling hurt/comfort read. I highly recommend this one!

When Tim’s parents are finally approved for their next dig halfway across the world, Tim convinces them to let him stay in Gotham for his sophomore year. Fortunately for him, they also forgot that they let go of his nanny beforehand, under the assumption that he’d be going back to boarding school in the fall. This gives Tim the time and freedom to do whatever he wants, whenever he wants. Unfortunately for him, this freedom is contingent on keeping up his good grades, including in his advanced English literature course, which he’s currently on the verge of failing.
Enter Jason, one of the school’s peer tutors. Jason and Tim bond almost immediately and form a strong friendship that just keeps pulling Tim further into the Waynes’ orbit. It’s (mostly) uphill from there.
I cannot stress enough how GOOD the characterization and dialogue are in this fic. There are some what I consider to be quintessential “Tim Joins the Batfam Early” fics and I genuinely think this fic should be included in that list. It feels so well-thought out and crafted that I was engrossed the entire time I read it.

I think these give a really good perspective into Ryou’s headspace after everything is said and done and also offers him a bit of closure. I’m a total sucker for fics where Ryou gets to open up about his experience with the Millennium Ring some more and these really hit the spot

Ryou tilts his head. He swirls the small plastic human round his fingers like water in his palm, watching each of the delicate folds in its robes ripple at its surface, light dancing across the tiny, intricate patterns carved at its ends so fluidly he can see its cloth sway and shift in the high tide. Bangles clink across its arms, wrists, and neck, yet do nothing to weigh it down, as the figure floats through his grip. Its doe eyed gaze stares back at him, so innocent and inviting, watching his face inch ever closer, until, he too, joins it in the water, and its form, from head to toe, is so white as to be artificial that he jolts and he’s back in the present, in his seat. He smiles.
He likes it.
He’d like it even more if he remembered how he’d got it.

A fic that walks through pieces of Izuku’s life and how him being Quirkless impacted him both then and now that he has One for All. It does a wonderful job in fleshing out Quirklessness within bnha and contextualizing some of Izuku’s thoughts during canon based on this information. I also love the techniques and writing style that the author uses to tell the story. Definitely will be rereading and recommend this to anyone who loves this type of fic!

Genuinely a very well written exploration of the intersection of Craig’s childhood experiences and mental health issues, and how they continue to impact him moving forward.
