    Summary

Tim is five years old when he drowns in his parents' pool. He dies quietly, waiting for parents who love him, but will never be there, to realise that something is wrong. They never show up, and he sinks into oblivion.

When he wakes up and claws his way out of the water, the sun has set, and the lights of his house are on. He is cold and wet and his lungs burn.

But most of all, Tim is alone.

(If you die and no-one is there to see it, were you ever alive in the first place?)

    Bookmarker's Notes

Tim Drake discovers that he can’t die at a very young age. Tim continues on with his life, keeping this fact a secret from those around him. He comes back, after all, and isn’t it better for him to throw himself into harm’s way if it means protecting those around him?

I am a sucker for fics where a character finds out they cannot die (but they still suffered the physical consequences) and this one scratches every single itch

    Bookmarker's Notes

During one of his nightly escapades around Gotham, Tim Drake accidentally finds himself in the middle of a fight between the Bats and the Joker. He’s able to help Robin and get away (largely) unhurt, but the Joker isn’t that lucky. In order to clear his name from Batman’s scrutiny that what happened to the Joker wasn’t an accident, Robin begins his investigation into the child who may have saved his life.

At the same time, Tim’s civilian life also takes a turn. After a pattern of suspicious behavior, Tim discovers that his parents are missing. Overheard conversations with the nanny and suspicious emails become evidence in a plot so deep he can’t even begin to piece it together himself… doesn’t mean he won’t try his best before asking for help, though.

This is a wonderful story and case fic! I think it balances the elements of any good “Tim Joins the Batfam Early” fic (Jason and Tim bonding, Tim being resourceful on his own, etc) and combines it with a genuinely interesting mystery to solve full of suspense and thrills. The characters are amazing and feel fleshed out. I liked getting to see all of the Bats + Tim’s perspectives and understand each of them. Highly recommend!!

    Summary

He doesn’t want to be Nothing.

He runs and runs and runs and he doesn’t even know where he is going. Not until there is gravel under his feet and he’s flying past pristine hedges.

Wayne Manor is in front of him and Tim forces his legs to move Faster.

He knows he shouldn’t . He knows he shouldn’t - but between Nothing and Batman, Batman will probably win

A man has started following Tin around wherever he goes. With him, illness seems to follow. As Tim’s health steadily declines, it all becomes too much and he seeks help from one Bruce Wayne.

This one is hard to describe, but it’s a classic to me tbh. The author I think really writes the terrifying nature of this scenario well and it’s nice to see Tim finally figure out what’s been happening to him at the end

    Summary

“It's nothing, Tim.” Tim looks up and sees stern conviction in his mother's eyes. “Nothing happened. Stop trying to make something out of nothing.”

They keep having him come back – they say he makes good business deals for them. Tim tries to seek out his parents when he's there, but as always, as from the start, they just...aren't there.

Because the thing is, Tim's not stupid – he's not. He knows that what's happening, shouldn't be happening...

    Bookmarker's Notes

Tim’s parents are aware of Mr. Aldringham’s interest in their son, but are able to convince themselves that it’s nothing nefarious. Tim is very vocal about his discomfort with the man until, he realizes, just how futile shouting is when everyone around you expects silence. It’s a lesson he learns quickly and it take him nearly half a decade before he can finally question it again.

A story about making yourself “convenient” in the face of your trauma and the fallout from that. I felt for Tim so many times here, especially him contending with his relationship and view of his parents, reconciling what they did (or didn’t do for him) with the love he still feels for them. Nothing graphic at all in this one but the story is 100% about trauma from SA, so just make sure you’re ready for that if reading

    Summary

“Tim,” Bruce says, “it’s driver’s ed.”

“You think I don’t know that?”

    “It’s a graduation requirement.”

“I know,” Tim snaps. “And you know why I know? Because two different counselors and the freaking P.E. divisional head sat me down and explained it! I know.”

    “Then how did you–”

“Because I wasn’t going to class, alright?!”

After failing his mandatory driver’s education course, Tim’s family all pitch in to impart their collective knowledge. But it’s an unlikely member who finally gets him up to speed.

    Bookmarker's Notes

After Tim’s attempts to forge paperwork and pass his Gotham Academy driver’s ed course are discovered, Bruce makes him get his state mandated 50 hours for real this time. It’s ridiculous because of course Tim knows how to drive! … Or at least he mostly does, anyway.

Hilarious from top to bottom! genuinely laughed out loud multiple times reading this fic and it’s such a good pick me up. If you’ve ever gone through the gauntlet of getting your required driving permit hours in, I’m positive at least one of the anecdotes will hit close to home. Highly recommend!
