It was this very thing that put him in the hospital when Steve Harrington was wheeled in.

Yeah, it wasn’t avoiding earth anymore.Steve, Robin, and Eddie get abducted by aliens after getting back from the upside down the first time. The aliens want something from Steve and make it hard for Steve to refuse. He refuses to let anyone erase any of his memories.
So now, the trio is on a spaceship for a few months, on their way to the planet that needs them.
Shenanigans ensue(also feelings, but Steve tries to ignore those, and so does Eddie).
