I guess I'm glad that I listen to Wu… The trees around the boys stretch on what it seems like forever. Other than the dry wood trees this place was nothing but a winter wasteland.

Hinata didn’t think as he moved his hand. Muscle memory brought it up in front of Komaeda’s chest, reaching for a chain that hadn't been worn in years. The movement was a blur, and Hinata didn’t recognize what was happening until after his fingers curled around empty air, forming a tight, useless fist. Komaeda’s reaction time was slow enough for Hinata to see as he jerked his right hand up, clutching at the ghost of metal that left thick, white scars on the sides of his neck. His left hand hung limply at his side, as if he forgot he was able to move it.

Summary
What if there was a universe where Hal got everything he ever wanted, he was in control, until he wasn't.
(I.e. Hal runs away with DS to escape a cult, Hal is perfectly comfortable never speaking to or associating with any man or woman with the name Strider ever again. Although once they finally find a sense of peace as new people, Hal finds out he wasn't the only Strider with the same game plan. )
