Calm. That’s the word Buck would use to describe the fire station right now. He was sitting on the shared couch in the living room upstairs in the loft.
They had a forty-eight-hour shift today. Eddie and Hen were sitting next to Buck playing a video game on the TV and Chim was chatting with Bobby in the kitchen. The shift so far has not been productive, everyone has done their chores, but there was not much left to do after the B shift.
Buck heard someone walking up the stairs and looked up to see Ravi walking in.
“Hey Rav!”
Ravi looks up at Buck.
“Hey Buck! It’s quiet today, isn’t it?”

Later on, when it’s published onto a hundred different gossip sites with hundreds of comments dissecting every word, it looks insane.
It starts because Shane has no one to talk to about everything. He’s never even kept a journal. He balks at the thought of getting a therapist. It’s not like he’s going to risk writing it down physically for someone to find. The only logical way that Shane can think of to deal with his feelings is to open up a blank Google Docs page and start writing.

But that's not even his issue. His issue is that his aunts decide to turn up, at his work place mind you, to freak him out and bother him with ill-timed affection and attention. It's no matter, he can handle it.
He is handling it. Right up until he and, by proxy, the rest of the ER are taken hostage by a patient.
Oh well, guess there's no time like the present to confront all of his issues head on, right?
