Summary
A fic detailing a sort of AU i've been cooking up in my head: what if the whole Rafta/Nestor/Eugene debacle ended up panning out.. differently? This isn't super duper romantic but is important for the section around the end.
note: in case your scratching your head at the tags, I wrote Eugene and Nestor as tfem, Eugene identifying as Butch and Nestor as Femme. Eugene is referred to with He/She pronouns, while Nestor by She/Her, and both by feminine signifiers (such as Woman, Miss, etc).

He hardly hesitated, though tried not to sound enthusiastic.
The thought of romantic intimacy with another person... Something as small and harmless and simple as a kiss...
He had surprised even himself when he said yes.
And again, later, after returning the photo that Sam had wanted developed-"Another kiss?! P-Please?"

Summary
Lyle blinked. Terror rushed through him, even if he had excuses primed and ready. His mouth opened, half-shocked and half-prepared, but nothing came out.
The door just… opened when his hand hit it. Nobody answered. Cautiously, Lyle pushed the door further open and peered into Sam’s apartment.
Dark. Quiet. Lyle let himself in. He unwound his key from around his wrist and tucked it further into his robes, safely out of sight. He felt too loud for the space. He clicked and didn’t stop, though now more out of unease than eagerness. Why would Sam leave his door unlocked? He’d never done that before. It was extremely unlike him. Which meant something was wrong. Sam wasn’t great with routines, but he’d never once left his door unlocked, let alone not even fully shut.

Summary
Since losing his brother, Vash has spent the past three years performing with his band in a cycle of excess and depression. He wakes up every day hoping for something to change, but isn't prepared when it finally does in a way he'd least expected. Even though he knows it'll be hard, he decides to raise his new baby the best that he can.
Of course, raising a new baby alone is easier said than done. Vash is about at the end of his rope when he finally stumbles upon a local lesbian-owned bookshop. The people he finds inside will change his life for the better.

“Vash, let us do this.” She grabbed his hand. “Don’t you trust us?”
“It’s—I—It’s not that.” He pouted. “I can’t—I’m already a burden.”
Meryl rubbed her thumb across his knuckles comfortingly. It was probably a mistake, she could feel dried blood flake off as she did it. “That’s not fair.” Maybe it came out too short, but she didn’t feel it in her to repeat herself in a softer tone. “Do you know how much of a burden I feel like when you don’t let me help?”
Vash twisted back and away. Wolfwood reached out and stopped him from fully turning around, so he rested his face against his own shoulder, looking to the side. “It’s not worth it.”
Wolfwood inhaled sharply. Meryl looked at him to see the side of his lip raised in disgust. “It’s not worth it to save your life?”
Vash stilled, suddenly silent. His hand was so cold. Every few seconds he would shudder, holding himself still through his agony. He was quiet but terse. He almost sounded angry. “I’m not doing it.”
aka 2.5k of convincing vash to accept help and 2.5k of blood sucking with a happy ending :)

Summary
Nicholas D. Wolfwood manages to piss off Gunsmoke's most violent cryptid: Millions Knives. Despite his rage, Knives agrees to spare Wolfwood, but only if he successfully tracks down Knives' slippery, nomadic brother - another elusive cryptid simply referred to as "The Stampede".
It takes years, but thanks to the aid of Zazie the Beast, Wolfwood tracks "The Stampede" to a small mountain town called TriPeak.
Despite Wolfwood's desperation to catch the monster, his fondness for the town proves to be a slight distraction. The locals are nice, the cafe sells the best coffee he's ever had, and TriPeak is inherently charming, despite the perpetually grey weather.
And on top of all that, there's one newer TriPeak transplant who Wolfwood finds particularly fascinating.

It doesn’t matter if this is the same camp that he and Vash grew up going to. Shooting easy bull’s-eyes at the archery range, acting unphased by even the creepiest of ghost stories, burning his marshmallows to a crisp, the serenity of brushing tangles out of his horse’s hair, staying up late to whisper the heaviest things in his heart to friends he thought he could trust— every warm memory is now completely irrelevant. While Nai wells up with embarrassed rage for the place as a whole, any previous happy sentiment fades away for the searing red that burns the edges of those memories instead.

His face is covered in paste, all rubbed in and making his skin shiny like it just got rained on. He pulled his dark hair back to keep it out of the way and he hasn't let it down yet and … and he looks good like this.
The kinda good that a guy could fall in love with.

Summary
Something fundamentally changed after that. It was as though having two people he could touch made Vash bolder, more open with his affection and more likely to reach out rather than wait to be reached out to. A kiss on the cheek when he sat down to breakfast, to the top of her head for a job well done. Meryl basked in it.
But now so was Wolfwood- Nick, she corrected herself again. His touches were less frequent than Vash’s, and far more careful, purposeful. Vash gave affection and love as naturally as breathing, but Wolfwood held his cards much closer to his chest.
