Sasuke's face was bathed in the last lights of the day, long strands of inky hair ruffled by the perpetually windy tops of the eastern hills at the Fire country border. He was staring at the horizon with a serene, peaceful gaze— the crescent moon overhead reflected in his obsidian eyes— he looked like he was drawn by an artist— the lines of him stark and dreamy and beautiful against the glassy, pale evening sky.
And right at the moment, Naruto’s heart had twisted with a longing so violent it had made his head spin.
He’d been afraid of the answer he knew was staring him right in the face. Because he realized he did know love— perhaps he’d known it all his life.
He just didn’t realize it would stare at him with the face of his best friend, his rival, his one and only— his soulmate.
