Kari’s eyes widened, and she almost dropped her keys on the floor instead of hanging them on the hook. “You mean you—you were conscious for all that time?”
“I wouldn’t call it that.” Wizardmon was now peering at the cat calendar next to the clock, marked neatly with all the dates Kari needed to remember for school. “I wasn’t in my body, so I couldn’t feel the days pass. But I knew when something important was happening. When things were about to go wrong. That’s why I was able to warn you.”Gatomon and Kari locked eyes for a moment. Kari’s eyes were still white around the edges, no doubt remembering all the times she had been pushed out of her own mind by some bigger force. And Gatomon… Gatomon knew what it was like to wait and wait and wait, to know there would be no resolution, only another day of the same endlessness.
No wonder he wouldn’t look at her. She almost thought it would have been kinder to leave him there.
Or Gatomon finally returns Wizardmon to life, but nothing is the way she hoped it would be.
