Todo empieza con una botella de Sonrisa del Emperador y un visitante inesperado en el Muelle del Loto. A la mañana siguiente, Lan WangJi despierta en la cama del líder de secta Jiang.
Jiang WanYin está desnudo a su lado, con el pecho y el cuello marcados. La piel llena de dientes, de heridas que han sangrado y de roces amoratados conforma un cuadro al que, por lo visto, no le da la más mínima importancia. Everything about this is wrong. The voices Lan Xichen hears inside the ancestral hall shouldn’t be there. The words being spoken shouldn’t be said. They’re either entirely wrong or completely unfair, and he isn’t going to stand for it.
Or, there was someone at the golden core reveal willing to stand up for Jiang Cheng
//This is set specifically in the donghua timeline where Guanyin Temple happens before golden core reveal happens, and is NOT Wangxian friendly (but it’s hopeful for reconciliation in the future). I love them. I do. I promise. But this is just really self-indulgent and I just want some justice for my boys. If that’s not to your tastes, I’d much rather you close out of the tab, than read something that you won’t enjoy.

“Everything is not fine,” Lan Xichen mutters and brushes a light kiss over Jiang Cheng’s throat. “My heart, it’s me. It’s me. You don’t need to pretend to be someone you’re not. I know you’re not okay. You don’t have to talk about it, but please don’t lie to me about it, either.”
Jiang Cheng has to close his eyes when hot tears threaten to spill over, and he spins around in Lan Xichen’s arms, desperately gripping the fabric with his hands.
“I’m not okay,” Jiang Cheng mumbles into Lan Xichen’s shirt and feels how Lan Xichen presses a kiss to his head.

In retrospect, Lan Xichen should have already known something was really wrong. Jiang Cheng’s letters to him of late had vaguely mentioned some troubles in the Yunmeng territory, some negative activity that could not be pinned down to a curse or easily-dispelled resentful energy. And then, the letters had stopped.
Jiang Cheng did not write to him every day, Lan Xichen reasoned. It was not uncommon for them both to lose communication entirely for a week, even two or three, when things got particularly busy. It was part of the cost of living so far apart, and so Lan Xichen only sent his missives off as usual, and did not worry about the lack of reply.
But then Jiang Cheng wrote to Wangji. No. To the Chief Cultivator.
