He flies like he has nothing left to lose (he doesn’t), a one man army (he is), leaving everyone else in the dust (so they don’t leave him). Admiral Kazansky claps him on the shoulder, says he expects great things from him, and Jake’s smile is feral as the rest of his flight school cohort looks on in disbelief.
Hangman, they all say, like Jake’s entire personality was a long con, and he ranks first in class.
Rooster doesn’t look at all.

“He’s alive!” he hisses, almost defensively. “It’s not - it’s not Gertrude again, I didn’t kill him, he just – I don’t know what happened to him, I just found him in the stacks like this.”
“And you dragged him up here?” Tim says, and then registers several things at once – the build, the hair texture; the little round scars peppering a pair of thin hands and an awfully familiar face. “Wait, is that Jon?”

Vi would, usually, say something about being morbid, but there isn’t much space for interpretation; the fact that whoever owned these old, dusty jackets hadn’t come back to retrieve them says volumes about their state of being.
“A long time ago, actually.”
Her mind catches up with her a few seconds too late, starting at the person who’s just arrived behind them, leaning on the doorframe and staring at them with weary eyes. Jinx’s quiet gasp comes from behind her, unsure and disbelieving.
“Silco.”

“Don’t lie! You always lie about it, Uncle,” Frodo told him, “I want you to be happy. I want to see you smile again, like you did for me.”

Bilbo returned to the Shire to take care of his young nephew Frodo after Frodo's parents died. He left behind the one he loved and the family he cared for dearly, but a promise is a promise and a Baggins keeps their promises. Thankfully, Frodo loves his uncle just as much as he loves adventures, so if convincing Uncle Bilbo to take him to Erebor means that his uncle will smile again, that's a win-win situation for him!- Language:

His auburn curls nestle like a halo around his head and his eyes, a bright green-blue, shine brightly and charmingly. Only a few hours old, he was already winning hearts. Within the day’s end there had been numerous offers from families- offering their own children for marriage.
When Thorin Oakenshield was born, they had a week-long feast to celebrate. Men and women toast to his health and happiness- they cheered to Mahal for allowing such a gift to be brought into the world. Marriages were talked about in a tactical way: long, arduous conversations about families and bloodlines following.

Erebor is being rebuilt and just in time for Bilbo and Thorin's wedding, which would be perfect, except for one problem. They're awkward together, they don't speak anymore, and they rarely see each other. It's nothing like when he first asked for Bilbo's hand, before they went to Erebor and...well. That happened. It's as if he no longer loves Bilbo anymore, and is marrying him out of duty or obligation.
And when Bilbo realizes that everyone else has figured that out except for him, he knows what he has to do.

After twenty years, however, his luck is gone, and Bilbo has to flee the Shire with Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin, and with four very young Hobbits, there is only one place he can turn to.Series
