Summary
The plan was meant to be prefect. They’d spent the better half of the last decade plotting and scheming. Working in the shadows of the kingdom, acting the part of savants of the light. Slowly but surely, they had gathered their forces; Manipulating the nobility, buying the loyalty of the knights and royal guard. Procuring the correct poisons and teaching the subtle arts of assassination, all to make it seem accidental. The throne was clear as far as they were concerned, the line of succession ending with the young princess.
No one thought to account for the SUPPOSEDLY DEAD prince.

Summary
It was a last-dich effort, a fool’s hope, when he dropped to his knees and prayed. Prayed to anyone that might hear his desperate pleas for help. It was often said that people connected most with their faith when at their lowest, when they were so far into the darkness, that light was but a distant memory. Nico had officially reached that point, yet he couldn’t feel further from his faith, from his family. What had he done to deserve their help, to deserve their care. He’d lied and deceived, attempted to kill his cousins, and taken his anger out on those that didn’t deserve it. He’d rejected all form of connection after the death of his sister, turned his back on those trying to help him. There were tears in his eyes as he begged, pleaded for not only help, but also forgiveness.
Once the tears started, they wouldn’t stop. In the depth of The Pit, on the banks of the Acheron, the son of Hades sobbed.

Summary
Pontus strode (Glided? underwater movement still confused him) forward and placed a stack of papers onto his father’s desk.
Poseidon raised an eyebrow and made a hand motion universally understood to mean ‘please explain’.
“Custody papers” Pontus’ voice was rough, like crashing waves against a shore. It was calming in a way that reminded Percy of long days spent at the beach with his mother.
“Custody papers?”
A nod was all Poseidon received.
His father placed his head in his hands and sighed. The exasperated look of a father hearing about some bullshit his son had gotten caught up in was the only way Percy could describe it (it was a look he and Triton were familiar with). It was such a human expression that Percy almost burst out laughing.
“Custody papers for who Pontus?”
“Perseus”

Summary
There is a moment between life and death were everything stops. The world is so quiet, yet so loud. A moment where you are completely aware of everything around you, yet nothing seems to register. You’re stuck in a kind of limbo, unable to move forward but you can’t stary still. You’re so cold, there’s no feeling at all, yet you’ve never felt more alive. Thanatos thought it was most ironic; the time were most mortals felt alive was at the moment of their death. The pure liberation they experienced through the release of their soul was incomparable to anything else.

Summary
There was an unnatural stillness to the air. It was the impending sense of doom felt before disaster strikes. The calm before the storm, as if nature was holding its breath in anticipation for what was to surely be a spectacular show. No birds chirped; no breeze rustled leaves. Wolved ceased their howling; creaks stopped bubbling. Mount St Helens was quiet for the first time in history.
It started slowly; a rumble deep beneath the earth. It ended in fire and pain. The earth was scorched worse than any wildfire, black and grey where the lava had cooled. Death and destruction were palatable in the air, Hades and his brood working overtime to get the influx of souls processed. There was no discrimination in the destruction. Flora and fauna alike had been wiped out. No one could escape the blistering heat; the poisonous gasses; the choaking clouds of ash and smoke. What little foliage that wasn’t burned away by the lava was left to the mercy of the resulting wild fires. Mortals had begun emergency evacuations. It was too little too late.

All It knew was the cold and the darkness.
The apartment was cold.
The heating and hot water had been disconnected in the fall when the gas bill had remained unpaid. Gabe only bothered with the water and electricity because he needed it to go to the toilet and watch TV, and even then, it was always late. Even in the harshest of winters It wasn’t allowed a blanket. Gabe said they were for good children just like warm clothes and socks.

Summary
The newest prince of the sea was a tiny thing Mayamiko thought. As skinny as he was small, the boy barely reached his fathers hip. It was hard to tell how old the boy was from a glance. Unlike undersea children, humans didn’t change colouring to indicate physical maturity and age. While a typical mer-child would start brightly coloured (mainly so their parents wouldn’t lose them in the darkness of the sea) before fading darker patterning in their teens, humans seemed to only indicate age through height and unseen changes (highly unreliable if you asked him).

Summary
Atlas had heard rumours of course, every creature worth its ichor had. Hearing rumours and seeing in real life where to different things however. The boys’ eyes, a bright gold that seemed to flow like a molten stream, were filled with concealed rage as he looked up Castellan from his position under the sky. Elsewise, his face was a blank mask of calm and contemplation. He was like a predator trapped behind the walls of a flimsy cage, watching its captors for the slightest moment of weakness.

Summary
Apollo had been blind since he was a child. Not in the traditional sense. No, his vision was perfectly fine (at least he hoped so), it would be unbecoming for an archer, let alone a god to have poor vision. But he was blind. A binding of some kind (he never did work out what it was) was permanently and securely wrapped around his eyes and threaded through his golden hair. A solid circlet of gold (it was always gold for him) at the front, tapering to golden laurel leaves as it reached the back of his head (at least, that’s what he had been told). It was beautiful, like the gilded cage of a nightingale.
