"Where am I? Where is this?" and he was in Brooklyn, he was on a beach, the train was shaking around him. He was in the plane, ice splintering up onto the windshield. He was in a tank, tubes trailing from his face, from his groin. Christ, he was cold. There was still ice on his fingers. He was in the Grand Canyon. He was in Times Square. This couldn't be Times Square. Where the hell was this? "Tell me! Where am I, who are you, where's—" —Bucky?

Summary
"He couldn't remember when he first started feeling the pull. Perhaps it was too long ago, or perhaps it had been gradual, something that crept up on him. But by the time he was sixteen, Bucky knew that the axis of his world spun around Steve Rogers in the worst possible way."
Inspired by finding out that in the prequel comics for Captain America: The First Avenger, Steve and Bucky are in art class when the news breaks about Pearl Harbor.

Summary
Time travel bodyswap! Present-day Steve and Bucky wake up back in their old bodies in 1938, while past Steve and Bucky wake in a future where they're both built like comic book heroes and Bucky's got what he thinks is a swell future robot arm. Adventures are had, and the ethics of time travel are debated. Also, everyone trash talks Willem de Kooning.

Bookmarker's Notes
This was a lovely body-swap fic. Both story lines were a treat (though I have to admit, 1938-Bucky and Steve running along the beach in the future and just being young and unabashedly naive warmed my cold little heart in particular - spot on characterization). The De Kooning reference was a great touch.

Bookmarker's Notes
This series. It broke my heart to pieces and then it glued it back together, just to nip at it some more. This is, in all honesty, the best fan fiction / trilogy I have ever read, and I don't mean just in the Captain America fandom. The staggering attention to detail, the absolute amazing incredible poetic awesomeness (I'm missing cca. 10 other superlatives there) of the writing, especially in the letters, the feeling you get of - "This actually happened." - the way everything ties into the story, the little details which make it historically believable, the characters, who are true to how they're depicted in the films but still so much more.. It's beyond words and even beyond the scope of my understanding. Kudos to the authors. ALL of the kudos. And then some.
