Summary
As she gets closer, Tim is immediately drawn to her wide brown eyes; they are broadcasting her emotional state for everyone to see — some combination of eager and excited and nervous. The polar opposite of the cool and guarded expression he is careful to keep on his own face.
Angela turns to look at him, clearly trying to gauge his reaction before she whacks him with her bouquet and hisses, “That is your soon-to-be wife, Tim, not your new boot, so maybe chill out with the death glare. You shouldn’t be trying to intimidate her.”
Tim ignores her; he begs to differ. This woman is supposed to be his wife. Chosen by supposed experts to be his life partner, his perfect other half. He is sure as hell going to be assessing whether she measures up to his standards. The fact that he already knows all of this is bullshit honestly just makes him that much more inclined to prove it.
When she reaches the end of the aisle, she stops in front of him and tilts her head to smile up at him in this sweet, hopeful way that he simultaneously finds incredibly endearing and incredibly irritating — like he holds her fate in his hands, and she is counting on him not to f*ck it up.

Summary

Danny came into the room with two plates of pie smothered in thick cream, handing one to Steve as he sat down beside them. “Are you still going on about pancakes?”

Summary
J. Baillier's "Drift Compatible" takes place in the 2040s, in a world changed and governed by a devastating threat. Based on Guillermo del Toro and Travis Beecham's Pacific Rim universe but requiring no knowledge of it whatsoever, it is the story of Rangers Holmes and Watson, serving in the Pan-Pacific Defence Corps, humanity's best and last line of defence. A highly sophisticated neural interface allows them to Drift, which means syncing their memories and thoughts to control a Jaeger—which are the most formidable war machines ever built. Drifting also creates a connection between the two men which, in its intensity, is initially difficult for both to accept. These short stories were inspired by "Drift Compatible", and feature the works of several authors.
The title of this series comes from a speech in the first Pacific Rim film, one made by Marshal Stacker Pentecost: "Today... At the edge of our hope, at the end of our time, we have chosen not only to believe in ourselves, but in each other. Today there is not a man nor woman in here that shall stand alone. Not today. Today, we face the monsters that are at our door and bring the fight to them. Today…We are cancelling the apocalypse."

A series of AUs where ONE fact gets changed and then everything else changes in its wake--all while keeping as much canon-compliance as possible (army doctor, invalided home, alcoholic sister, crime-solving with Sherlock). Summary
Mycroft Holmes is a successful, yet reclusive, mystery writer whose books have topped bestseller lists for years. Mycroft’s agent, Anthea, nearly had to resort to torture to persuade the writer to allow a studio the rights to film one of his books and he only agreed after a section was added to the contract that gave him final say on the choice of actors to play the detective in his novel. The studio wants the highly profitable and extremely sexy Greg Lestrade for the role, but Mycroft isn’t happy with the choice, since Greg’s films don't fit the more cerebral tone of the novel being filmed.
Greg, however, is desperate for the role, as he’s wanted to break out of the pigeonhole he’s been confined to, acting wise, and truly get the chance to show his skills as a serious actor. The studio finally pulls Greg from a publicity tour for his latest film and sends him to Mycroft’s remote country home to do some persuading. Once there, after getting to know the secretive, brilliant and slightly-eccentric Mycroft Holmes, Greg isn’t certain which ranks higher on his persuading list - him getting a role he dearly wants or him getting a man he dearly wants.
