They’ve not done this so often it feels familiar yet, but Magnus is sure he could ride Alec every day for years, (he hopes to get close to that, in fact, can’t help but think it every single time, yes, mine, again, again,) and it would never stop being this, perfect and hot and overwhelming.

Summary
When they were first getting to know one another, one of the first things Magnus had noticed was that Alec smelled like a great many things.
He kept many of his emotional responses tightly reined in — his level of repression was almost impressive — but there was only so much he could control. He could cover a lot with scowls and sharp words, and he could keep his ears pinned flat to his head and his tail held straight down and out of sight, but his scent was out of his control, giving away flashes of tenderness and amusement and arousal that everything else about him was fighting to refute.
And now… even now, it’s like a direct line to his psyche. Magnus can smell in great detail how turned on Alec is, and that’s wonderful, the smell heavy and musky and all-too-familiar; even better is the warm, sweet undertone that never seems to leave anymore, the one that tells him just how much Alec loves him, how closely and irrevocably they’re tied.
But there’s still something missing.
Or, Magnus has an idea. Alec is almost surprisingly into it.

The moment the words escape his mouth, Alec finds himself slightly panicking. Because he does not talk like that, ever―in a way that might even be considered flirting―and he still doesn’t understand what it is about Magnus that brings stuff like that out of him. More importantly, he has a boyfriend.
Magnus, however, just looks mildly surprised as their eyes meet.

The stranger soon becomes Alec, and their paths end up crossing more than once. For a second Magnus entertains the idea of divine intervention. He thinks back to this afternoon, Alec talking about his faith with a steady conviction and a fire that lit his hazel eyes with the flickering dance of flames. The way he'd described it as, “things he knows to be invariably true, the realest thing he's ever felt"...well, it's enough to make Magnus pause. Alec had seemed so sure, then, that the answer he had was the right one, guided as he was by his ‘truth’ and his scripture. But beyond that, Alec seemed…ethereal, in that moment. Taller, somehow, with broad, strong shoulders and a light that seemed to emanate from him, pure white and blinding in the dusty air of the classroom.
Magnus might not believe in a God, but in the face of Alec's conviction? He's finding it harder not to believe in him.

One of the most well handled religious themed AUs I’ve ever read. It treads a very careful line and manages to not only capture the importance of faith for people (regardless of your religious affiliation), but the impact that personal conviction has an equally important role in who you are. One of the most impressive applications of character specific/context specific word choice and dialogue that is never unbalanced. Absolutely loved it.
