Summary
No one knows how Soulmates came to be, but somehow they did. They could be romantic, or platonic, but either way, they were the most important person in your life.
There are different kinds of Soulmarks, the ones that are permanent and never change from when you first got the Mark, and those that show up on both soulmates’ skin as they happen.
Permanent Marks and Empathy Marks.
There are two different kinds of Permanent Marks, Name Marks and Picture Marks. Name Marks show the name of your Soulmate on your wrist when you first meet them. Picture Marks show a symbol that represents your soulmate, again, on your wrist, and they show up when you are born. Then, there is the third. Which isn’t really its own thing. It’s both. A Picture Mark when you are born on one wrist, and a Name Mark when you meet them on your other wrist. These are called Advanced Permanent Marks.
Now, in the Empathy Mark division, there are, again, two (three if you count the Advanced). Both start to show up when you are three years old. The Pain Mark lets you feel what your soulmate feels, you get all of their cuts, bruises, all that jazz. Ink Marks are where anything drawn on the skin shows on the other.- Words:

Link’s life had been quiet since he defeated the Calamity. Of course, to Link, ‘quiet’ meant it was filled with the sounds of explosions as he launched himself across Hyrule. But after defeating the embodiment of evil with nothing but an axe and a pot lid, wearing only a pair of boxers, fuelled by the eternity of rage in his heart, Link felt he was justified.
He had died. It was only fair he got to live a little.
So when a portal opens under his feet and Link finds himself face to face with himself, he decides to have some fun with this.
