Summary
The bite is different for everyone.
For some, the virus overtakes the body in minutes, violent convulsions the only warning before they turn their teeth on whoever is left. For others it takes as long as three days-- three long, miserable days of suffering, fever, and rot. In the end, the time between the bite and the turn means nothing but how long they suffer before their body shudders its final breath, then sits back up to spread the horror anew.
It does not linger past three days.

The footage is grainy, and there’s no audio, but it’s a sign of life after months, and that’s something. That has to be something.
It’s Wilbur, of course. He’d recognize Wilbur anywhere. But he’s just… staring. Staring at the wall, blinking slowly. Techno counts the blinks, counts the beats of his heart, and hopes for a message that isn’t there.
For the Wilbur that stood proud on national television, broadcasting secret codes to the rebels all over the country.
Wilbur isn't broadcasting anything now.
The video loops, and loops, and Techno watches. Each time he counts the blinks, he hopes for a different answer.

The capitol caught Wilbur communicating with the rebels.

The goddess brought her hand over to rest on the boy’s forehead, her eyes slipping closed. “I name you Theseus, first of your blood, ruler of the Antarctic Empire and all its lands. Forever may he reign.”
“Forever may he reign,” Phil echoed in just a whisper.
Phil didn’t register the rest of the goddess’s stay. He did not remember walking back to the palace or how the doors opened for him when he stepped through. He only came back to himself as his sons looked at him patiently, ready to be told about their brand new charge, the new ruler of the empire.
“Boys,” he whispered, no longer being able to hold back his tears. “Meet Theseus. Your brother.”
They had seen kings rise and fall for as long as they had lived. They would forever serve their land and never had they failed, but this… having the very king they were meant to serve be their brother in blood would pose the biggest challenge to their loyalty yet.or
King Theseus, or Tommy as he likes to be known, swears he's been spited by the gods - because his reign just keeps getting harder.

Summary
Tommy ignored the shocked stare the hotel receptionist gave as he stumbled in. After all, he probably looked horribly out of place, with his dirty, tattered clothes, greasy hair, and singular shoe.
“Do you have any spare shampoo?” Tommy asked once he approached the desk.
“Hey, I recognize you. You’re that kid from the Dream Case. I’ve been following it on the news.”
“Awesome, I’ve got fans. That doesn’t answer my question. Do you have any spare shampoo?”

After a particularly traumatizing incident with Dream, Tommy is left disoriented and has to rebuild his life from scratch. He meets countless new people on his journey to recovery and realizes that the people around him are more connected to each other than they think.
