Cross and Chara have been stuck in their dead au for a while. Ink didn't come when he was suppose to. Their lack of cooperation has gotten worse. Chara continues to let out his anger on Cross and Cross has given up hope of escaping. When they have an epic fight ending with both of them hurt and alone, they can think. They both made mistakes, suffered, and want the same thing-Xtale's ressuraction. They are all each other have and need to get along or atleast work together. When Ink starts showing up, they have the chance to escape into the multiverse and earn their happy ending.

Ink stared at him as he tried to comprehend the words. Perseverance? Although it made sense, it only seemed to contribute to his rising alarm. How could he possibly thrive if perseverance was the most reliable aspect someone could have; an aspect he woefully lacked?
(My very own AU idea. I suck at titles. And creativity. Took me forever to finally come up with a title and I'm still unsure about it. I hope you enjoy the story anyway, despite all the problems. Summary
Nightmare didn’t pay Killer to be nosy, but then again Nightmare didn’t pay Killer at all.
Besides, Killer never really knew when to quit. After a nasty fight with Cross, Killer gets lost in his frustrations and ends up in a part of Nightmare’s castle he’s never been to before.
The deeper he goes the colder it gets, and the darker it gets. The light he finds at the end of this tunnel seems more like someone's prison than a way out.

Nightmare "the slime" Undertale highly respects Nightmare (the Skeleton) and made an unspecified deal with him. Over 800 years Nightmare the slime takes up the title and duties, which he considers to be spreading negativity as much as possible. He wants Nightmare the OG to wake up to an empire that belongs to him and for him to be safe and comfortable. OG nightmare is inside slime NM for years before OG Nightmare decides he needs to be removed so that his injuries heal. Hes "extracted" which was apparently very dangerous and arduous and then placed into this orb. Slime NM tries to give him good memories but inside the orb OG NM is suffering through a loop remembering what he lost.
The orb is hidden behind a clock in the castle. Killer finds it then Dust finds out what Killers been sneaking around for. It's implied that Killer speaking to the orb did make OG nightmare happy. Slime NM thinks the emotions from Dust and Killer means they're a couple and they're like "good for them i guess."
Anyways they find out that Slime NM is not the original NM and get really unsettled. They fight about whether or not to leave. They sneak around and argue enough that Axe and Cross get upset as well. Eventually NM is cornered next to the secret room and accidentally destroys the orb. NM the OG is freed with some damage but enough to survive.
Everyone's uneasy. Nightmare the Slime is honest but sort of indifferent which doesn't help. Axe and Cross start forming some sort of connection with NM the original gangsta even though he's completely out of it just in it for the soup. Nightmare the slime is pleased that he's making friends.

a multiverse in which ink is desperately lonely, dream doesnt think he deserves to sleep, they both think theyre incapable of feeling real emotions or having real friends, and theyre both very wrong about all of that. angst with a happy ending :)
main fic (ahwyhl) is in progress-- the first 15 chapters can be considered a complete Book 1 (of 2). more oneshots are likely. :D

Summary
Ink isn't a real person. They can't love people-- only characters. They only need to love characters to protect the multiverse. That's their purpose, they don't need anything else. They weren't made to have friends.
Dream is the Guardian of Positivity. He can't feel negative emotions-- making him a perfect, tireless Guardian. He doesn't need rest, he doesn't need friendship or comfort. Helping the people of the multiverse makes them happy, which makes Dream happy. He doesn't need anything else, either.
At least, this is what they both believed, until Ink teleported to their shared base, and found Dream curled up on the floor of a rarely-used bedroom, uncontrollably sobbing.

Dust's magic has been acting odd ever since they got here but he's keeping it a secret. And Horror is just trying to protect the other from every monster in the underground desperate to eat. An au is destroyed while everyones fighting and Dust and Horror are sent to a Horrortale. In this Horrortale Sans recently was kidnapped and put in a box in a closet where his magic is being slowly siphoned to feed the underground. Now people have a taste for souls. Dust has magic which is slowly being siphoned ambiently. His magic makes people hungry. He is freaked out and thinks Horror will dislike him once he finds out that his magic is going. Cause his only sense of self worth comes from his magic. Horror keeps flirting and getting rejected by Dust because Dust thinks Horrors just into him for the magic/potential food. This is a pretty rude assumption but tbf Horror does have a moment where hes out of it and attacks Dust. Meanwhile Nightmare's looking for them and you can just feel his headache.

Nightmare and Dream are in a fight where NM to some degree looses himself. For some reason his crew won't talk to him and no one will tell him what happened after they started fighting. Dream claims Nightmare asked for a truce. Nightmare is physically different and doesn't quite grasp what happened and everyone seems to think he's not even the same Nightmare from all the years fighting. He's now accepted into the Omega timeline although many people are wary or hostile towards the idea. Very mysterious.

Summary
Killer had never been a good sleeper.
This had been established long before Cross arrived, the others would sometimes waive his odd behaviours as being a result of him sleeping so infrequently. Not that he wasn’t weird of his own choice, Killer loved nothing more than doing or saying something odd to get a reaction, but there were some days where he was visibly off even from his own usual brand of strangeness. Those were the days you could tell it was beginning to wear him down.
The only time he ever seemed to sleep well and for long was after coming back down from stage 3. Any time Cross had seen it happen, Killer was always too spent afterwards - emotionally and physically - to do anything but melt into the nearest seat or shoulder and doze off. So it was generally assumed that was the only way he could sleep normally.
Until Cross began to notice a new pattern emerging.
