Summary
It has been one month since fifty AUs were DELETEd without explanation. Ink is summoned to Blue’s AU by an emergency call and fears the worst. When he arrives, the AU is safe and Blue, Core, and Dream convince him to stay for a while.
They were not the only ones waiting for him.
Ink's brother is so happy to see him. Everyone else? Not so much.

Ink is soulless but it doesn't really affect his emotions except as a sort of physical disability. His strange affect seems to be more related to his isolation than anything else.
Blue and Dream try to give Ink a vacation which reveals some things about Ink which have been hidden. At first you'd think his jumping around is ADHD or a self driven desire to help, but things quickly get grim.
His brother, "Sketch" shows up one day. Ink is ecstatic and wants to teach him about morality, which he learned from his friends. Sketch is consistently morally dubious but he's learning. Which is nice because a lot of the stuff he does seems foreboding. Sketch is also sort of strange but not in the same way Ink is. To me this proves that being soulless does not cause Ink's memory issues or difficulties socializing.
There are malevolent gods "The Creators" who control the multiverse and work through Ink. Ink meeting the Underswap residents says weird stuff. He thinks if people are nice to him they'll be killed or Deleted. Hes also super afraid of people insulting these Creators.
He gets stabbed 60ish times fighting Dust but wanted to impress his brother. He realizes when he gets back to Underswap that he forgot the password to the Doodle Sphere and therefore can't heal himself. Everyone tries their best to take care of him but he follows them secretly again and gets taken hostage in Markettale while disguised as "Note".
He befriends Dust despite the circumstances. Dust learns that hes been continually brainwashed, killed, and replaced by Nightmare for centuries. The longer he's away, the more he regains awareness. Also each body is a Dust Sans who unknowingly gave their life to host OG Dust's soul. Accordingly, every Papyrus Ghost or Hallucination dies with the previous body.
Dust doesn't realize Note is Ink and when he finds out he's upset. He had biases against Ink which are prejudiced and misinformed. He realizes this when despite everything Ink still protects him and doesn't act differently than "Note".
Dust tries to save Ink by ditching him in Outertale. Dust believes no one would actually save him, so the only way to get Ink out of harms way is to pretend to be an aggressor. He thinks asking for help will only put Ink at risk of being associated with him. This "battle" is honestly one of the most brutal and striking moments of the story.
Dust chases Ink and tries to egg someone on to fight him so that he can "flee". He's holding back but is attacking Ink. Nobody steps forward for an excruciating time. Outertale residents and others who see the incident just see Dust torturing Ink. Only US Asgore (stuck in Grillby's), OT Grillby, and OT Sans eventually step up but by then its too late. Both Dust and Ink are completely gutted by the realization that no one would help Ink. It's really fucked up. It echoes when Ink was originally stabbed in UF and no one helped.
Nightmare arrives and captures Ink. Ink is able to hide Dust. Outertale guards capture Dust.
Ink is tortured for like 10 chapters while Dust makes allies and realizes that there are in fact people that would've helped him.
They save Ink. Things are looking better. (How could things possibly get worse.)
Ink has a horrible feeling that someone he loves will be deleted because he was saved from Nightmare-- which doesn't follow the multiversal script.
He's in US again and is desperately trying to have a good time because he thinks it will be the last time he sees his friends. It's all very uncomfortable and sad. Everyone is just disturbed by his frantic behavior since he just got back from a Torture Dungeon TM.
I, like the characters, assumed his low self esteem and his fears of the Creators were an exaggeration. Nope. This is where things in my opinion take a drastic turn into grimdark.
Ink is forced to go to the anti void as everyone's memories of him are deleted. They didnt want him to have a final goodbye. For like 40 chapters afterward hes basically possessed and tossed around to work on Universes. Nobody remembers, him and the Creators go out of their way to torture him for fun and convince him that it's for the greater good.
Dust gets to see Ink as "Note" and remembers him. They meet Color, Killer, and Shade Gaster in Othertale. Killer and Color are in their own loop. Nightmare lets Killer befriend Color over and over just to rip them apart when he murders Killer again. Killer doesn't remember but Color does.
Meanwhile US tries to find Ink in the void.
Sketch begins to quarantine universes and acts as a "villain" to entertain the Creators while preventing them from using their worlds to hurt Ink.
Then they meet Aster and Top who control a universe. Ink gets ideas.
Bad stuff happens, more people remember Ink. Everyone teams up to save him. Ink blocks the Creators. Things r looking optimistic!

Rework of the Dust centric fic about him being forced to work for NM. Now more forced to work for Killer. Killer is sadistic, hyperactive, and sees himself at benevolent. Horror is an asshole. Dust is just being tortured. To Killer this seems like a relatively decent fate.
Lines I really loved:
"he just needs to follow orders. And then, all this so-called evil will just be mundane tasks"
"They will never let him escape, chaining him with the only creature that would show him the love he's so starved for... One day, he won't know the difference between love and LOVE, just like Killer doesn't."
"heh, you don't get it, do you?" Killer slides up to Murder, his back brushing gently against Murder's shins, making the other jerk back. "they love us so much that they want to crack us open to see what's inside... they love us so much that they shape us in their image... that's the only language they can speak to us."
